Ingredients

  • 2
    mackerel
    fillets (cleaned)
  • 1
    potato
  • 2 tbsp.
    olive oil
    (+/-)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Herbes de Provence (+/-)
  • 1
    clove
    garlic
  • 1 shallot
  • 1 lemon

Materials

  • 1 mandolin
  • 1 gratin dish
  • 1 chopping board
  • garlic crusher (optional)
  • 1 vegetable peeler
  • 1 knife

Preparation

  • Step 1:

    Slice the potato extremely thin with a mandoline. Finely cut the shallot and lemon. Press the garlic.

  • Step 2:

    Pour some olive oil into the bottom of the gratin dish. Arrange the potato slices on top. Add an additional layer of olive oil over them and sprinkle with salt and pepper for seasoning.

  • Step 3:

    Arrange the clean mackerel fillets on top and finish with a light pour of oil. Note that some bones will become more manageable post-cooking. Identify the sections to extract beforehand when preparing the mackerel.

  • Step 4:

    Include the thinly sliced shallots and garlic, then seasoning with salt, pepper, and herbes de Provence.

  • Step 5:

    Add lemon slices on top.

  • Step 6:

    Cook for 12 minutes in an oven heated to 350°F (180°C).

  • Step 7:
