Widow’s Joy: PS Raymond Omollo Builds Her New Home in Siaya

Gorety Juma Okoth has become the latest homeowner in town, all thanks to PS Raymond Omollo.

Where did Gorety stay previously?

The 50-year-old widow and mother of five found herself without a stable place to live, moving from house to house depending on the kindness of friends who provided her with accommodation.

A member of the Gorety Widows Group from Ugenya constituency, Siaya County, shed light on their challenges during a meeting with the Widows Empowerment Program team.

The widow lost two out of her five children and now has three children along with seven grandchildren.

What type of home did PS Omollo construct for the widow?

The Patron of the Widows Empowerment Program (WEP), Interior PS Raymond Omollo, has been leading efforts to assist widows residing in miserable conditions by constructing homes for them and providing financial aid.

On March 29th, which fell on a Saturday, Gorety received a brand-new permanent home courtesy of the WEP team under their leader, Coordinator Victor Ayugi. Following the handover ceremony, they provided the widow with essential groceries, filling her heart with immense joy.

The widow was ecstatic, as her facial expressions clearly showed just how delighted and satisfied she felt.

Ayugi mentioned that Gorety felt immense excitement and gratitude towards the PS and the WEP team.

After constructing multiple homes and providing financial support to widows’ organizations, Ayugi shared her experiences.

This year, WEP is focusing on widows who come from different regions of the country.

He stated to LIFEHACK.co.ke, ‘We aim to construct additional homes, particularly for those who are most in need. Our plan includes visiting more widows’ groups and assisting even more widows across various regions beyond just Nyanza.’

Other widows who received support from PS Omollo’s Widows Empowerment Initiative

The PS brought joy to Margaret Awuor, a 67-year-old widow who resided in a mud-thatched home, by building a new house for her, causing her to shed tears of happiness.

The PS also touched many hearts after constructing a home for a 52-year-old widowed woman who lives with a disability.

Ann Adhiambo Okwako from the Alego Usonga Constituency, who had previously lost two homes to fires, couldn’t conceal her delight upon receiving a new home courtesy of the WEP team.

Omollo similarly constructed a home for Caroline Akinyi, a 33-year-old widow from Kisumu with six children, who previously resided in a small mud hut.

Consolata Adongo, a 75-year-old widow who lost nine of her ten children, similarly gained assistance from the Widows Empowerment Program.

A 73-year-old grandmother named Rose Achieng Odhiambo, who resided in a modest dwelling made of mud with corrugated iron roofing that had oxidized, was provided with a proper home by an organization called WEP.
