As the season approaches its conclusion, many teams will be looking ahead with anticipation towards significant transfers during the summer to strengthen their squads for the 2025-26 campaign.

One major issue perplexing several leading Premier League clubs is identifying a prolific forward, as evidenced by the challenges faced by teams like Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

This might cause certain teams to struggle with retaining their top players; however, during the summer transfer window, we may witness millions being invested as team executives search for solutions to their striking woes.

Mail Sport examines some players available on the transfer market and speculates which teams might vie for their signatures.

Alexander Isak โ€“ Newcastle

Swedish player Alexander Isak has frequently found himself at the center of transfer rumors ever since he made a notable impact during his first season with Newcastle starting from the 2022-23 campaign.

So far in this season’s Premier League, Isak has scored 19 goals, establishing himself as a lethal striker.

According to Mail Sport, Arsenal showed interest in Isak during the previous summer, and they might pursue the Swedish player once more as the current season comes to a close.

The Newcastle striker is estimated to be valued at an impressive ยฃ150 million, with three more years remaining on his current deal. Earlier this week, Mail Sport disclosed that Magpies Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan instructed the teamโ€™s leadership not to entertain any bids for his most preferred player.

Isak previously stated this month that he might meet with the club during the summer to discuss signing a new contract. From Newcastleโ€™s point of view, negotiations could potentially become smoother if they manage to secure their spot back in the Champions League.

Potential suitors: Arsenal, Liverpool

Viktor Gyรถkeres โ€“ Sporting Lisbon

Another Swedish forward excelling at scoring goals, Viktor Gyokeres is putting up remarkable statistics with top-tier Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon, catching the eye of observers all over Europe.

During his time in Lisbon, he has netted 83 goals in 91 matches, including 40 goals in just 41 games this season.

The ex-Coventry forward is anticipated to move on this summer, as Portuguese sources indicate his intention is to exit on a positive note by guiding the team to yet another league championship.

There have been discussions about a reunion with his previous coach Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford, which could potentially resolve Manchester Unitedโ€™s goalscoring problems. However, it remains uncertain whether Gyokeres himself is interested in joining the club.

As reported by the Portuguese publication A Bola, Gyokeres favors moving to one of these clubs: Liverpool, Arsenal, or Manchester City.

With Manchester Cityโ€™s wealth of offensive prowess thanks to players like Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush, a transfer to either Liverpool or Arsenal seems more probable.

He has a โ‚ฌ100 million (ยฃ84 million) release clause, however, itโ€™s thought that Sporting might agree to let him go for โ‚ฌ70 million (ยฃ59 million). This is even though their star player is tied to the team until 2028.

Switching to England is not assured, as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and PSG are mentioned as possible alternative options.

Potential suitors:

Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool

Jonathan David โ€“ Lille

As his contract comes to an end this summer, Canadian Jonathan David ought to be highly sought after by every Premier League team aiming to secure a valuable asset without breaking the bank.

In the current season, with 23 goals and 10 assists across 41 matches, Davidโ€™s speed and nimbleness put him in good stead for advancing to the Premier League.

It is uncommon at age 25 for athletes with such skills to become free agents, attracting many clubs eager to sign him up.

Barcelona, Juventus, and Inter Milan, which are among Europe’s top clubs, present appealing opportunities for the Canadian player, especially since they are all seeking long-term successors to their current star forwards in their respective teams.

In terms of the Premier League, both Manchester United and Liverpool are apparently monitoring Davidโ€™s performance. As reported by Get French Football News, clubs such as Arsenal and West Ham are also showing interest in the striker.

However, David has expressed that LaLiga is his top choice among leagues.

The Premier League is much quicker and more physically demanding compared to all the other leagues. However, having grown up watching a lot of La Liga, itโ€™s the one Iโ€™d prefer,โ€™ he shared on the It’s Called Soccer podcast.

That is the league which I found most enjoyable to watch; therefore, someday I aspire to play there.

Potential suitors:

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, West Ham

Dusan Vlahovic โ€“ Juventus

After joining Juventus in Turin in 2022, Dusan Vlahovic has continually been associated with clubs from the Premier League.

Vlahovic is having a strong season, with 14 goals in 34 matches across all competitions, just four short of his tally for the entire 2023-24 season.

Since his contract will end after the upcoming season concludes, teams might have the opportunity to secure his services for a reduced fee.

Reportedly, both Manchester United and Arsenal showed interest in the Serb during the January transfer window.
transfer window
, and both parties might also prefer a summertime transfer.

It was mentioned that Chelsea were also keen on acquiring Vlahovic; however, securing him might contradict their usual practice of offering lengthy deals to young prospects.

Potential suitors:

Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United

Benjamin Sesko โ€“ RB Leipzig

A potential new arrival from the Balkans this summer might be Sloveniaโ€™s Benjamin Sesko, who has been scoring at a rate of approximately one goal every two matches for his German club RB Leipzig this season.

Following his impressive performance at Euro 2024, Sesko inked a new deal that will keep him committed till 2029.

Given that the Slovenian supposedly has a release clause, itโ€™s been implied that if Leipzig get a satisfactory offer, he could depart this summer.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham have shown interest in signing Sesko. The Gunners have had their eye on him for some time now, and he might just be the player who finally helps them claim the Premier League title.

The release clause for him is said to be ยฃ49.5 million, however, this figure might increase up to ยฃ66 million if specific criteria are fulfilled.

Potential suitors:

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham

Victor Osimhen โ€“ On loan to Galatasaray from Napoli

As Victor Osimhenโ€™s prospects at Napoli appear nearly finished following his departure on loan, he has taken this opportunity to remind the big European clubs of his outstanding skills.

The Nigerian forward has scored 26 goals in just 30 matches for Turkey’s prominent club Galatarasay, underscoring his reputation as one of the top strikers globally.

The ferocious forward has long had links with Manchester United and Chelsea, with the latter seemingly close to doing a deal until Napoli pulled out of the deal in the summer 2024 transfer window.

Osimhen’s speed suits Chelsea’s play style and the forward is very keen on a move to the London giants, stating he has always been a Chelsea fan since his childhood.

Ex-Blue John Obi Mikel said that his compatriot is ‘the ideal Chelsea signing,’ causing fans to go crazy.

It is reported that Osimhen is on Manchester United’s list of four strikers they’re considering, which also includes Sesko, Gyokeres, and Hugo Ekitike from Eintrcht Frankfurt.

Potential suitors:

Chelsea, Man United

Marcus Rashford โ€“ Aston Villa (loaned from Manchester United)

Rashford’s surprising January transfer on loan to Aston Villa has been successful so far, as the English player has notched four assists in his initial nine matches for the club.

Even though he hasn’t scored for the team yet, Rashford’s strong beginning earned him a call-up to the England squad following his appointment as the new head coach of the Three Lions by Thomas Tuchel.

It seems Rashford isnโ€™t part of Amorimโ€™s plans, so he may push for a permanent departure from Manchester when the summer transfer window opens.

It appears Aston Villa is the frontrunner for signing Rashford permanently, provided that revenue from summer player sales covers the cost of the transfer.

The loan agreement featured an option allowing Villa to secure Rashford on a permanent basis for a predetermined sum, reportedly amounting to ยฃ40 million.

In Europe, there isn’t a team that urgently requires his talents.
Barcelona
shortly involved in discussions in January, however, their monetary problems cast uncertainty over a possible transfer.

Potential suitors:

Aston Villa

Victor Boniface โ€“ Bayer Leverkusen

Another Nigerian player who might be moving this summer is Victor Boniface, leveraging his impressive tally of 21 goals during Bayer Leverkusenโ€™s championship-winning run in the 2023-24 season.

Despite being hampered by an injury this season, Boniface has still managed to find the back of the net once every two matches.

His physique plays a crucial role in his gameplay, making him well-suited for the rigorous demands of the Premier League.

Boniface witnessed a transfer to the Saudi Arabian team Al-Nassr fall through in January. Instead, the club proceeded with securing a deal for Jhon Duran from Aston Villa.

Reports indicate that Chelsea may lead the race to secure the forward this summer, with Arsenal and Manchester United following closely behind. Additionally, Newcastle is reportedly monitoring Boniface as a possible alternative to replace Isak if the Swedish player decides to leave.

Potential suitors:

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle

Julian Alvarez โ€“ Atlรฉtico Madrid

Even though he has just relocated to the Spanish capital, Argentine striker Julian Alvarez might soon find himself back in England, with several Premier League clubs showing interest in signing him.

Once Haaland’s understudy at
Manchester City
Alvarez has been in exceptional goal-scoring form for Atletico Madrid, finding the back of the net 23 times in 44 matches.

Boasting Premier League and international tournament victories under his belt, Alvarez would undoubtedly be an expensive yet highly impactful acquisition.

Atletico Madrid has allegedly taken steps to refute claims about Liverpoolโ€™s interest in their key striker, following rumors suggesting the Reds might propose a player exchange involving Darwin Nunez.

Potential suitors:

Liverpool

Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa

Aston Villa’s striker Ollie Watkins continues to impress, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists in total matches.

He is an essential player for Emery’s Villa team, and after selling Duran to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr in January, he remains the sole forward option for the Villans.

Watkins is right in the middle of his peak years, so Aston Villa would be hesitant to let him go, especially since he represents England internationally.

The Mail Sports reported earlier this year that Arsenal had presented an offer for the lifelong Gunners supporter, however, their proposal was quickly turned down. Signing Watkins would be a tremendous acquisition.

If Mikel Arteta cannot secure Isakโ€™s signing, Plan B should be implemented.

Arsenal
