Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has declared a sponsorship contribution of Shs 100 million for the 100th Rotary Uganda District 9213 Conference. This event is scheduled to occur from April 9 to 12, 2025, at the Civil Service College located in Jinja.

At the occasion of unveiling the sponsorship package, Uganda Breweries’ Managing Director, Mr. Andrew Kilonzo, highlighted that the collaboration with the Rotary Club has persisted for many years due to the club membersโ€™ dedication to voluntary service. He noted how Rotarians consistently support numerous initiatives such as improving water and sanitation systems, areas where UBL has demonstrated leadership over time.

UBL is thrilled to collaborate with Rotary at the upcoming conference, where we will commemorate the remarkable achievements of the Rotary year 2023/24,” stated Kilonzo. “I’ve been assured that various corporate social responsibility initiatives, designed to benefit communities positively, will take place concurrently with the event.

Our Board Chairman, CP. Jimmy Mugerwa, has consistently emphasized that events such as this demonstrate the strength and influence we can achieve when Rotarians unite for a shared purpose. Today, Uganda Breweries has illustrated

commitment to supporting initiatives that drive positive change and promote social responsibility. I urge all of us to embrace the spirit of service above self and the volunteerism that Rotary embodies.”

Uganda Breweries collaborates with the Rotary Club through initiatives such as the yearly Rotary Cancer Run, which seeks to raise funds for increasing awareness and providing accessible and improved healthcare services.

In 2018, Uganda Breweries entered into a $564,000 collaboration ($205 million Ugandan Shillings) with Rotary and the National Forest Authority. This initiative sought to restore the Gangu and Nawandigi Forest Reserves located in theMpigi District as well as various other forest reserves within the Lake Victoria watershed regions.

UBL also collaborated with Rotary through their ‘Service Above Self’ campaign initiatives, which focused on providing community members with improved access to clean water, better healthcare services, and efforts to combat various diseases.

These efforts align with UBL’s commitment to sustainability, aiming to make beneficial impacts on the communities where the company functions.

Ms. Anne Nkutu, the Governor of Rotary District 9213, praised UBL for their support, stating that this assistance would significantly contribute to the eventโ€™s success. She mentioned that at the District Conferences, members come together not only to acknowledge accomplishments throughout the Rotary Year but also to ensure accountability among themselves regarding the commitments made.

These organizations think that hosting a productive conference where brilliant individuals can come together will help advance the significant efforts that Rotary carries out in Ugandan communities and across the globe.
