It comes with every ADV attachment you could desire, but it’s essentially a scooter.

If someone had mentioned a decade earlier that adventure scooters would become popular, I’d have found it amusing. Nevertheless, here we stand today. Despite the presence of dirt bikes, dual-sport vehicles, and large Adventure Touring motorcycles,
scooters
have forcefully entered the adventure sector.

The one that began everything?

This odd combination of a maxi-scooter and an adventure motorcycle surprisingly became popular. Soon after, other brands joined this trend but offered models with lower engine capacities. Honda later introduced the ADV350, making it central to the competition. One of its latest competitors is the
Zontes ZT368G
.

If you’re unfamiliar with Zontes, you’re among many others. This brand is still new when compared to well-established players in the industry yet it’s gaining significant attention worldwide. Zontes operates under Tayo Motorcycle, a rapidly growing Chinese company mainly focusing on expansion within Europe. On our site LIFEHACK, we’ve covered them extensively; one notable aspect is their penchant for producing motorcycles with bold designs.

And the ZT368G adventure scooter is certainly not an exception.

At first sight, the ZT368G is quite something. Imagine an ADV motorcycle pumped up on steroids, yet standing oddly like a Dachshund. It boasts sleek lines, fierce angles, and enough styling to make even sports bike creators do a double-take. Clearly, it aims to be distinctive, but the real query is whether it overdoes it.

Beneath all the extravagant design elements, the ZT368G appears to be a robust piece of machinery. It draws power from a 367.6cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine delivering 38.8 horsepower along with approximately 30 pound-feet of torque. This places it squarely alongside the
ADV350
in terms of performance.

Zontes also spared no expense when it comes to features; this model is packed full of them. You get keyless start, an eight-inch TFT screen complete with phone-mirroring capabilities, six USB ports (how does one have so many devices needing charge simultaneously?), heated handlebars offering five different heat settings, a tire-pressure-monitoring system, and twin HD cameras equipped with night-vision technology that activate each time the scooter starts up.

Exactly, this thing epitomizes excess. The most amusing bit is that 99% of the riders won’t end up using most of these features at all.

Made In China: The Pros and Cons

However, disregarding excessive technology, the ZT368G seems to have quite solid foundations, possibly indicating that itโ€™s genuinely built for adventure. It features an upside-down forks with adjustable compression and rebound damping, a twin-shock system at the back, and a 17-inch front wheel equipped with spoked tubeless rims covered in all-terrain tires.

It includes features like an adjustable windshield, handlebar protectors, a bash guard, crash bars, and off-road footrests for riding upright. This level of equipment is quite extensive for a scooter.

With that aim, it seems evident that Zontes’ objective with the ZT368G was to create a scooter that excels in urban environments, remains steady on highways, and has some degree of capability when riding off-road. Considering the extensive features included on this model, they may well have succeeded. Nonetheless, all these additional components contributed significantly to its overall mass; the scooter weighs in at 203 kilograms, which is approximately 450 poundsโ€”a considerable heft for a scooter, particularly considering its engine size.

When all is said and done, it’s clear that Zontes is introducing strong competition into the market. The ZT368G comes with a competitive price tag of โ‚ฌ5,592 (approximately $5,800 USD), which notably undercuts the Honda ADV350. This makes it quite appealing as a standout option among maxi-scooters. However, this motorcycle seems to aim for versatility but might be trying to fulfill too many roles at once.
