Mumbai (Maharashtra), India, April 7 — Director Tahira Kashyap, recognized for her first directing effort ‘Sharmajee Ki Beti,’ disclosed that her battle with breast cancer has resumed following a seven-year remission period.

On Instagram, Tahira posted an emotional message expressing her resolve to combat cancer for another time.

In her post, Tahira stated, “Is it the seven-year itch or the impact of consistent screenings? Personally, I lean towards the latter and recommend routine mammograms for everyone who should have them. This is round two for me… I’m still up for the challenge.”

She said, “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. But when they shower you abundantly with more lemons, take them steadily and turn them into a refreshing glass of kala khatta instead. Enjoy this delightful beverage with positive thoughts because not only does it taste superior, but also reminds you that youโ€™ll face every challenge head-on yet again.”

Tahira finished her message with, “#regularscreening #mammogram I’m not hesitating to speak about it #breastcancer #onemoretime #letsgo. Coincidentally or not, today marks #WorldHealthDay. We should all strive to look after ourselves as much as possible. #gratitude throughout.”


In 2018, Tahira received her initial diagnosis of breast cancer. Recently, she posted an uplifting image online showing herself with a bald head due to chemotherapy treatments, alongside snippets from her ongoing battle against the disease.

On World Cancer Day, speaking with ANI, Tahira discussed the difficulties faced in battling the illness and commended government programs such as Ayushman Bharat and PMJAY, which are ensuring that cancer care reaches millions of people.

On World Cancer Day, I wish to praise the Ayushman Bharat and PMJAY programs for ensuring that prompt cancer treatments are available to numerous individuals irrespective of their economic status. Battling cancer challenges your fortitude, perseverance, and belief. Nevertheless, early detection and cost-effective therapies remain crucial for overcoming this disease. Thanks to these governmental efforts, countless people now have reason to look forward to a brighter tomorrow. We should keep supporting each other and spreading knowledge regarding the early identification of breast cancer since united we stand strong against cancer, as stated by Tahira.

Tahira is married to actor Ayushmann Khurrana, and they have two offspring togetherโ€”a boy and a girl.

His movie “Sharmaji ki Beti” delves into the ambitions and dreams of middle-class women from various walks of life. It made its debut on Prime Video on June 28th of the previous year. (ANI)
