PRC Celebrates World Water Day: Join the Global Movement!

In honor of World Water Day on March 22, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) announced that they provided 6,218,200 liters of water to 8,435 people as part of their operations around Mount Kanlaon in the initial three months of 2025.

The group mentioned that they have also assisted with resolving water shortages in Bacolod City, Cavite, and Manila.

“To mark World Water Day, we reflect on the crucial part water plays in our everyday activities, particularly during emergencies. This day focuses on making sure safe drinking water reaches people who require it. The Philippine Red Cross maintains water trucks throughout the nation, prepared to assist whenever necessary,” stated PRC Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon.

This year’s World Water Day observance will focus on “Preserving Glaciers.”

The PRC stated that protecting glaciers was essential for ensuring global water security.

The PRC mentioned that they run 29 water tankers with storage capacities between 5,000 to 12,000 liters, along with 44 water purification systems in regions without access to clean drinking water.

In 2024, the PRC supplied 8,956,091 liters of water to 241,604 people amid different emergencies.

“In addition to managing water distribution, our teams are also carrying out hygiene promotion sessions, performing handwashing demonstrations, and providing hygiene kits to enhance health and guarantee access to clean water,” stated PRC Secretary-General Gwen Pang.
