NUJ Names First Female Deputy President for 70th Anniversary Leadership Role

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has created history by appointing its first female National Deputy President, Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde, to lead the planning committee for their 70th anniversary celebrations.

The announcement made by NUJ President Comrade Alhasan Yahya signifies an important step toward the organization’s dedication to inclusivity and balanced gender representation among its leaders.

The choice of Dr. Oyetunde to lead the anniversary celebrations underscores her standing as a visionary leader known for her commitment and outstanding achievements.

At the launch of the nine-person committee, President Yahya stated that this occasion would underscore the Union’s development, accomplishments, and the significant efforts made by its members throughout the last seventy years.

Dr. Oyetunde welcomed the challenge wholeheartedly in her reply, recognizing the two-month preparation period and urging her committee members to take initiative.

“This is an appeal to service, and collectively, we shall make sure that this anniversary becomes a memorable event recorded in the annals of history,” she declared.

The NUJ Lagos State Council has similarly applauded the appointment, considering it evidence of Dr. Oyetunde’s skill and leadership abilities.
