Jarrett Allen notched 29 points along with 15 rebounds, and Darius Garland contributed five crucial points in the last 1:16 of play as the Cleveland Cavaliers, playing at home, beat the San Antonio Spurs 124-116 in an NBA match on Thursday.

The Cavaliers (59-14) had a lead of five points at halftime and maintained a margin of three points after three quarters. San Antonio took a brief advantage at 104-102 thanks to a three-point shot by Stephon Castle with 6:25 remaining. However, Cleveland responded strongly, scoring the next nine points consecutively and retaining the lead for the rest of the game.

The Spurs (31-41) came close at 117-114 after Harrison Barnes made a layup with just 1:41 left. However, Garland stepped up, sinking a three-point shot followed by a finger roll layup, providing Cleveland with enough of a lead to secure their victory.

Donovan Mitchell contributed 25 points, 14 assists, and eight rebounds for Cleveland, as they secured their third consecutive victory. Max Strus tallied 18 points, De’Andre Hunter recorded 14, Sam Merrill chipped in with 13, and Garland ended up with 10 points even though he shot only 4-for-15 from the field.

Castle guided San Antonio with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. Devin Vassell also contributed 22 points, Keldon Johnson amassed 17 points along with 10 rebounds, Julian Champagnie notched 16 points, and Jeremy Sochan added 13 for the Spurs, who have now lost back-to-back matches.

Cleveland had a 30-24 advantage after 12 minutes of play and built on its momentum through the first minutes of the second quarter, with Mitchellโ€™s 3-pointer pushing the margin to 46-30. San Antonio swung back, closing within 50-47 on Jeremy Sochanโ€™s running layup with 50.3 seconds to play in the half. Cleveland led 54-49 at the break despite committing 10 turnovers.

Before halftime, Mitchell topped the score sheet with 15 points, standing as the only player from either side to reach double digits.

When Vassell sank two free throws, San Antonio took the lead at 81-79 with 1:47 remaining in the third quarter. The Cavaliers then dominated the closing moments of the period, thanks to five points from Merrill and a slam by Mitchell with just 16 seconds left, giving them an 86-83 advantage going into the final stretch.
