Man Arrested After Threatening to Expose Intimate Videos Post-Breakup

KATHMANDU, April 5 — Authorities detained an individual for allegedly abusing social media platforms by threatening to share private images and video content from a previous romantic involvement.

Ram Bihari Safi, aged 27, from Golbazar, Dhangadhi Municipality-7, Siraha, who lives in Sinamangal, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, was apprehended on Wednesday by a Cyber Bureau squad following a complaint lodged by the victim.

The police stated that Safi had threatened to post the private material on social media platforms and distribute it to the victim’s family members after their relationship ended.

The probe continues under the Electronic Transactions Act of 2063, as the Kathmandu District Court has provided an additional four days for the investigation.
