His participation in the Club World Cup, beginning on June 14, overlaps directly with the Euros in Slovakia this summer, potentially leaving him without any role for Carsley during this period.

When asked about his plans for June, McAete was noncommittal.

โ€œPerhaps, perhaps not? I havenโ€™t decided yet,โ€ he stated.

‘Itโ€™s a fantastic chance for everyone involved, so I really need to discuss this with City and Lee [Carsley]. I would be thrilled to attend both.’

‘I believe I’ll have a say in it. However, as I mentioned, I’m still undecided.’

‘I believe my thoughts will be significant, and the boss from back home [Pep Guardiola] will hear me out.’

So far, this season has proven challenging for McAtee, who hasnโ€™t started a single game in the Premier League, accumulating only 123 minutes of playing time from the substituteโ€™s bench across ten matches.

However, Guardiola has earlier rejected the idea of selling the Salford-native midfielder this summer. Given that a more significant role is anticipated for the 22-year-old player, the Club World Cup might be seen as an essential time for Manchester City.

In Carsleyโ€™s perspective, McAteeโ€™s participation in the Euros clearly signifies a significant advantage for Englandโ€™s chances of retaining their championship title. This was further emphasized by his contribution with one goal and an assist during the teamโ€™s 5-3 loss against France.

‘I believe this is an issue we should discuss,’ Carsley stated.

‘I believe that if players participate in a tournament like the Club World Cup, we would certainly support them. However, he is a player who holds great importance for us.’

‘It all depends on the club, and we will follow their wishes; weโ€™ll back James regardless.’

Recently, Carsley had a conversation with McAthee to discuss several matters, particularly his thoughts on the upcoming summer period.

However, McAtee also mentioned that he feels a surge of confidence each time he leaves after being with England, which is largely due to Carsley.

“We recently talked, and he expressed complete faith in me. This really boosts my performance and sparks my creativity,” he mentioned additionally.

‘I’ve done this before at this level, and the boys have confidence in me which allows them to pass me the ball. This makes me feel free when playing.’
