Himachal Pradesh
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

in conjunction with the Government of
Telangana
On Saturday, the approval was granted for setting up the 400 MW Seli and 120 MW Miar Hydroelectric Power Projects in the Lahaul-Spiti district, according to an official statement.

This marks the first partnership of this nature in the stateโ€™s history, representing a key achievement in the government’s endeavors to utilize its extensive hydropower resources.

The

were signed by Secretary Rakesh Kanwar Power on behalf of the
Himachal Pradesh
Government and Chief Secretary of Energy
Sandeep Kumar Sultania
on behalf of the
Telangana
The government was present under the esteemed leadership of Chief Minister Thakur
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu
and Vice Chief Minister of
Telangana
Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu in Shimla.

It is anticipated that both projects will be established at an approximate cost of Rs 6,200 crore along the banks of the Chenab River. These initiatives are projected to create around 5,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly, for the stateโ€™s youth.

As per the agreement,

The government has paid an initial premium of Rs 26 crore, and following the completion of both projects,
Himachal Pradesh
Will get 12 percent, 18 percent, and 30 percent additional power at no cost for the initial 12 years, following 18 years, and the last 10 years correspondingly as per the updated Energy Policy from the State Government.

Following 40 years, the Administration of
Telangana
would move both projects to
Himachal Pradesh
. Additionally, the
Telangana
The government will allocate 1.5 percent of each projectโ€™s total cost to the Local Area Development Fund (LADF). Additionally, they will supply an extra 1 percent of free electricity to the LADF post-commissioning.

The families impacted by these initiatives will similarly be entitled to financial support amounting to 100 units each month for a duration of ten years.

During this event, Chief Minister Thakur
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu
greeted the Deputy Chief Minister of
Telangana
Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu to
Himachal Pradesh
and noted that this partnership signaled the beginning of a new epoch for collaborative efforts between states within the renewable energy industry.

He likewise extended an invitation to the Government of
Telangana
To investigate additional collaborations in power banking or trading.

He stated, “Our administration is dedicated to safeguarding the stateโ€™s assets while making sure that hydropower initiatives advantage the citizens of this state. We will provide complete support to the government.”

The Chief Minister stated that the current State Government will not permit the exploitation of the state’s resources.

He stated that the state government acknowledged the stateโ€™s water resources as assets and was implementing significant changes in the power sector to improve them.
