General Motors has unveiled two additional trim levels for the 2026 Sierra EV, reduced its cost, and provided further battery choices.

General Motors’ push into electric vehicles shows no indication of decelerating.

When GM began shipping the vehicles,
2025 Sierra EV
Towards the end of last year, it was available solely in the Denali trim level, offering just two battery choices: the 390-mile Extended Range and the 460-mile Max Range. The vehicle came with a rather steep starting price exceeding $100,000. Recently, however, GM has unveiled two new budget-friendly trims, added additional battery options, and reduced the cost for the Denali variant. This could make the model attractive to a broader customer base.

The two newly introduced trim levels are the basic Elevation and the adventure-oriented AT4. The Elevation trim will come equipped with both an Extended Range battery as well as a new Standard Range option. Meanwhile, the AT4 can be obtained in either Extended Range or Max Range configurations. As for the Denali model, it will offer all three powertrain choices: Standard, Extended Range, and Max range variants. Detailed information regarding the estimated ranges for each trim level will be disclosed nearer their release date. It’s worth noting that GM does not disclose specific battery capacities; however, sources indicate that the Max pack mirrors the one used in another vehicle.

The Elevation model equipped with the Standard battery has a price of $64,495 including destination charges, which makes it approximately $15,000 less expensive compared to the base model.
Tesla Cybertruck
The Extended Range package increases the price to $72,695.

The AT4 equipped with the Extended Range package has a base price of $81,395, which increases to $91,695 when fitted with the Max package. Due to the introduction of the more compact Standard Range battery, the top-tier Denali model now begins at $71,795. As a result, even the Extended Range version is approximately $10,000 less expensive, starting at around $80,000.

“By incorporating these extra features and customizable options, the Sierra EV is perfectly placed within the core segment of the luxury pickup truck market,” stated Jaclyn McQuaid, Global Vice President of Buick GMC, in an official release.

The AT4 gains an additional two inches of ground clearance, bringing its typical riding height up to 11 inches. Additionally, it features rear-axle steering, Crab Walk technology, and boasts a peak towing capability of 12,300 pounds—approximately 2,000 pounds more than what the Denali can manage.

The Elevation has less impact and focuses more on roads, yet appears reasonably well-equipped. It won’t include rear-axle steering or Crab Walk (seriously, who uses those?), but it will come with features such as the sizable 16.8-inch touchscreen and an electric front trunk.

The market for electric trucks hasn’t truly gained momentum due to
choices are few and costly
The penalties associated with range limitations during towing and hauling typically discourage conventional truck purchasers from switching to electric vehicles. However, the Sierra EV appears to be progressing positively and ought to attract a broader customer base. Shipments of this model are anticipated to start this coming summer.
