A flight attendant has shared the biggest mistakes that passengers make when packing their carry-on suitcases.

After six years of working for a major US airline, CiCi, who kept her last name hidden for privacy reasons, has become a travel expert.

Throughout her career, she has seen many incidents involving travelers who encountered issues because of troubles with their carry-on luggage.

Thankfully, she broke down all the ways they can be avoided to

She said the number one mistake that she sees people make is that they bring a carry-on that is so heavy they can’t lift it into the overhead bin.

She mentioned that assisting travelers with large suitcases isnโ€™t within the job description for flight attendants and can be dangerous for them.

She also highlighted that this could delay the board proceedings.

Rather than stuffing your bag with large items such as sweatshirts or boots, she suggested wearing the bulkier things that would occupy the most space in your suitcase during travels.

A common mistake that she often observes passengers making is carrying an excessive number of carry-on luggage items when they go to the airport.

CiCi clarified that most airlines permit carrying only two pieces of luggage on boardโ€”a rolling suitcases along with a compact carry-on bagโ€”and additional items might incur hefty charges if checked in at short notice.

Another common mistake that travelers make, according to the flight attendant, is not keeping their essential items in convenient places.

‘People put things that they need on the plane – like their book and their earbuds or whatever they’re going to need – inside their suitcase,’ she said. ‘[And then] it’s not easy to access.’`

Another mistake she said she often sees is people forgetting to bring vital items, like a reusable water bottle or snacks.

She recommended that passengers always carry snacks when they have lengthy flights, since turbulence might interfere with the crewโ€™s ability to serve meals at times.

Lastly, CiCi mentioned that people often pack their liquids improperly, leading to potential leaks in their carry-on luggage.

She recommended pressing out all the additional air from any liquid containers before placing them in your bag since gases can expand due to changing air pressures.
