The renowned Transfagarasan mountain route in Romania has been featured in a list of the planet’s top driving adventures.

The report compiled by travel insurance provider InsureandGo determined the count of pertinent tourist sites scattered across various routes with the help of an online mapping tool. Subsequently, they divided this figure by the total distance of each journey to identify which paths boast the greatest concentration of points of interest, thereby being recognized as the most thrilling journeys available.

Europe leads the charts, securing eight positions in the upper echelons.

, featuring standout entries in the top 20 such as Spainโ€™s The Basque Circuit and Romaniaโ€™s Transfagarasan Highway traversing the scenic Fฤƒgฤƒraศ™ Mountains.

The rankings place the UK at the pinnacle, with Derbyshireโ€™s Peak District route being named the world’s most captivating destination. In second place is Germanyโ€™s Black Forest High Road, followed closely by Hawaiiโ€™s Hana Highway in third position.

Globally, Romania’s Transfagarasan ranks 19th, offering an average of 1.9 attractions for every 10 kilometers, which falls short compared to the first-place ranking of 11.3 attractions per 10 kilometers.

The ranking also features the Hana Highway (USA), the Amalfi Coast Drive (Italy), the Causeway Coastal Route (Northern Ireland), the Alsace Wine Road (France), the Highlands Tourist Route ( Scotland), along with numerous others.
