  • A significant update on Salah’s contract scenario has been released by an Egyptian outlet.

  • They have similarly clarified how Alexander-Arnold’s potential departure impacts the situation.

  • LISTEN NOW: The Fuss Is On! Should Liverpool supporters criticize Trent Alexander-Arnold?

Mo Salah might be nearer than before to securing his place.
Liverpool
As he has initiated serious contract renewal discussions, the future looks promising, reports a leading Egyptian news source.

The footballer from Liverpool reportedly got a stronger proposal than initially mentioned, according to an insider within the Liverpool team.

Salah’s contract ends when the season wraps up, and during the course of the season, he has suggested that he is more likely to depart than remain—put simply, ‘out rather than in’ according to his own phrasing.

‘Liverpool’s management has opened negotiations with Rami Abbas, Mohamed Salah’s agent, to renew the Egyptian star’s contract with Liverpool for the time being,’ a source told
Masrawy
.

‘The talks between Liverpool and Rami Abbas, who represents Salah, have progressed significantly further this time compared to previous attempts, with the new proposal being more lucrative than anything offered to the player previously.’

However, the report also included a shocking statement regarding
Trent Alexander-Arnold
.

‘Arnold’s imminent departure from Liverpool will be a major factor in Salah’s contract renewal, following the reduction of the club’s high salaries, allowing the Egyptian star to be given what he desires in his new contract with the Reds,’ the source says.

The confident mention of Alexander-Arnold’s ‘imminent departure’ will ring alarm bells for Reds fans, who
discovered on Tuesday
that Real Madrid remain confident of signing him.

Mail Sport reported in December that the champions of Europe were certain Alexander-Arnold would be their man and were planning for life with the England international in their team.

That confidence has only intensified since then, although sources close to Liverpool suggest that they have had no indication yet that any deal has been completed.

Since January 1, Real Madrid has had legal clearance to discuss terms with Alexander-Arnold because his contract at Anfield ends in June. The European champions directly approached Liverpool on New Year’s Eve aiming to secure his services in January, though this overture was quickly turned down.

The top-tier team decided against selling their right-back during the January transfer window because Madrid offered approximately £20 million for him prematurely, and they were actively involved in four different competitions then. This choice has since proven wise.

Mail Sport understands those in the Spanish capital have long expected Alexander-Arnold to join but Florentino Perez was keen to respect Liverpool so did not want to make any news public.

However, sources in Madrid believe that finalizing the transfer is merely a formality at this point.

This kind of news has sparked intense reactions from certain Liverpool supporters, including one individual who was captured in a widely shared video burning a Salah jersey.

A clip emerged on
X
showed a supporter setting fire to the rear part of an Alexander-Arnold jersey and confidently displaying it towards the camera.

Certainly, there was no turning back for the Liverpool fan once the blaze caused a significant tear at the rear of the shirt.

Following the announcement, numerous supporters turned to social media platforms to voice their anger and asserted that Arne Slot ought to exclude Alexander-Arnold from participation for the rest of the 2024-25 season.

One commented: “I would personally remove Trent from the team for the remainder of the season. Keep him away until the end; don’t allow him to bid farewell.”

Don’t include him in the bench squad at all. Exclude him from any title celebration events or parades. Make sure he watches the festivities from his residence.

A irate follower concurred and chimed in with: ‘

Do not allow him to play another game. Do not permit him entry into Anfield even when we raise the trophy.

Another fan added: ” Bench Trent for the remainder of the season,” while an additional follower commented: “Will Trent start in the remaining nine matches? Although he’s hurt, do you reckon he’ll play for LFC again? I doubt it.”

The possible exit of Alexander-Arnold could be a major setback for Liverpool since he has progressed through their youth system and is considered among the top full-backs globally.

Upon entering their training facility when he was six years old, the defensive player first took the field at 18 during an EFL Cup match versus Tottenham in 2018.

Since then, he has accumulated 349 appearances and has served as a bedrock for Liverpool’s significant achievements in recent years.

During his tenure at Anfield, Alexander-Arnold has netted 22 goals and contributed 87 assists.

In the meantime, the defender — who has claimed eight titles with his childhood team — was named vice-captain during the summer of 2023.
