Narayani River, Nawalparasi East, April 9 – Police reported that two children who had gone missing near the Narayani River on Tuesday evening were discovered deceased on Wednesday afternoon.

The victims—a 13-year-old named Diksha Sherpunja and her 9-year-old brother Swapnil Sherpunja—were from Kumaltol within Gaindakot Municipality-1.

The District Police Office reported that their remains were found close to British Camp by a group of divers from the Armed Police Force.

The children went with their grandmother to the riverside and allegedly got into the water to fetch her slippers, resulting in their tragic drowning.

Both individuals were pupils at Nepal Rastriya Shumsher Adarsha Secondary School in Gaindakot and had just finished their yearly exams for classes 7 and 4 respectively.
