Upon sailing into waters regularly patrolled by pirates in Southeast Asia, passengers on the Cunard cruise liner Queen Anne were alarmed by a chilling notification sent to their staterooms.

Clips shared by guests onboard the Queen Anne, a Cunard ocean liner, became popular on TikTok following announcements made by the vesselโ€™s crew alerting everyone that they were sailing through pirate-infested areas in Southeast Asian waters.

Passengers were asked to switch off their cabin lights, draw the curtains and shut the doors. Additionally, they were told to avoid appearing at open decks or windows.

The Queen Anne sailed across the Pacific Ocean en route to the Philippines. The footage documenting when the warning was announced has garnered more than 9 million views.

The vessel embarked on its first-ever 111-night global journey.

“This region is notorious for piracy risks. During our transit, guests wonโ€™t be granted access,” Captain Inger Klein stated in the announcement aboard Queen Anneโ€™s ship.

“The outdoor promenade deck will remain closed on both ends from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting from the evening of March 14 through the morning of March 15,” she went on. Security measures include installing fire hoses to deter potential trespassers.

Cunard Cruise Line affirmed that there was no danger posed to the vessel or its guests.
