MANILA’s 3rd District Representative Joel Chua stated on Saturday that the residents of Quiapo and Binondo were celebrating upon hearing the update about Pope Francis’ improved health condition. The pope, currently hospitalized, is said to be resting comfortably, which has brought solace and optimism to Catholics globally.

“Being the Congressman for Manila’s Third District, which includes churches like Quiapo, San Sebastian, and Binondo — both my constituents and myself share joy knowing that Pope Francis is now free from being confined to his hospital bed and has been resting well,” stated Chua.

The lawmaker, who graduated from San Sebastian College and the University of Santo Tomas, likewise urged everyone to pray for Pope Francis and for the Cardinals responsible for carrying out his instructions as he recovers. He said, “Together with my fellow citizens, I am deeply engaged in earnest prayer—not just for the Pope’s well-being but also for heavenly insight to assist the Cardinals in performing their significant duties within the Church.”

The Holy See issued a press release late Friday evening, Vatican time, announcing that the Pope’s health remains stable with notable enhancements in both his breathing and movement capabilities.

“At night, he no longer uses mechanical ventilation with a mask but receives high-flow oxygenation through nasal cannulas, and during the day, he increasingly uses less high-flow oxygen,” the statement reads.

Even so, as stated by the pontiff’s physicians, they have not yet provided any signs concerning his release from the medical facility.

While the Pope proceeds with his recuperation, devotees in Quiapo, Binondo, and further afield stay unified in their prayers, eagerly anticipating his quick comeback to robust health and guidance.
