The LIFEHACK.co.ke correspondent Ivan Mboto boasts more than three years of expertise in covering political events and contemporary issues within Kenya.

Aviation pilot and frequent political analyst Iain Njiraini has joined the discussion regarding President William Rutoโ€™s trip to the Mount Kenya area.

The scheduled visit has elicited varied responses, as certain political groups have shown opposition while others look favorably upon the presidentโ€™s itinerary.

Njiraini addressed the issue, appealing to the area’s inhabitants to avoid aggression and extend a respectful listening to the president and his team.

Njirani’s message to Mount Kenya before Ruto’s visit

He highlighted the significance of political tolerance, particularly when individuals have opposing viewpoints.

“Specifically to the leaders associated with the ex-vice president, invite the president to come forward. Allow him to unveil the projects he aims to undertake. Let him present his strategies for the area. Then he can proceed as planned,” he declared.

Njiraini additionally warned against any efforts to disturb the visit via violent means, denouncing individuals reportedly intending to provoke disorder.

He observed that Mount Kenya has traditionally adhered to a peaceful political stance and emphasized the importance of continuing this legacy. Additionally, he urged patience from those who were discontent, stressing that true authority rests with the vote.

Njiraini asserts that the area retains a strong recollection of past political choices, and individuals unhappy with the present leadership ought to redirect their discontent towards supporting candidates in 2027 whose visions match theirs.

“Again and again, Mount Kenya remembers. The frustration felt today must be taken to the polling stations in 2027. Many will participate as numerous individuals are dissatisfied with present policies,” noted Njiraini.

These views emerge as political strains in the area intensify, with officials differing over the presidentโ€™s governance and plans for progress.

Rutoโ€™s trip is anticipated to mark a significant point in his connection with the politically powerful Mount Kenya group, particularly following his impeachment of his previous deputy, Gachagna.

Oscar Sudi criticises Gachagua over Mt. Kenya tour

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has criticized Gachgua, stating that Ruto doesnโ€™t require anybodyโ€™s approval to travel to the Mount Kenya area.

Sudi, along with Gatundu North MP Elijah Kururia, criticized politicians who engage in ethnic politics, asserting that Rutoโ€™s forthcoming visit is focused on advancing his nationwide developmental initiatives.

At Wareng High School in Eldoret, Sudi refuted assertions that President Ruto ought to seek permission prior to traveling to any area. He underscored that the president holds the authority to cater to every Kenyan, particularly those from Mount Kenya, who significantly contributed to his triumph in the 2022 elections.

The legislator alleged that Gachagna was fostering ethnic division and trying to establish himself as the only key political figure in the area.
