Victor Boniface Fires Back After AC Milan Deal Falls Through

Striker Victor Boniface from the Super Eagles expressed frustration over backlash after his planned move to top Italian club AC Milan fell through.

A 24-year-old striker, now with Bayer Leverkusen, had his move to Milan blocked due to unsuccessful medical tests, as reported by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

The deal was originally structured as a loan agreement valued at โ‚ฌ5 million, including an additional clause for purchase at โ‚ฌ24 million.

After the incident, Boniface faced extensive online mockery, as numerous supporters began to scrutinize his life outside of sports.

Recent videos showing him participating in fun TikTok activities have gone viral, leading to discussions about his professional image. Certain fans criticized him for appearing overly casual and not taking things seriously, considering his past experiences with significant injuries, such as undergoing two anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) operations.

Nevertheless, the forward replied with an intense Instagram message, subsequently removed, where he referred to his detractors as “jokers.” Boniface maintained that his skills have already attracted attention from leading European teams, emphasizing that he should not be overlooked due to his character.

Although there was negative feedback online, Italian sources indicate that the unsuccessful deal occurred purely due to medical reasons.

It was revealed that Milan’s medical staff identified long-standing problems with Boniface’s right knee, which has required several surgeries previously. Further reports indicated that the striker went through extensive medical evaluations over two days prior to the agreement being formally canceled.

Bayer Leverkusen’s sports director Simon Rolfes confirmed that the transfer had “ended,” whereas AC Milan’s sports director Igli Tare highlighted that the choice was based purely on medical reasons, rather than behavior or way of life.

Without the Boniface option remaining, AC Milan are now looking at different possibilities. Talks are underway regarding the young forward Conrad Harder from Sporting CP, while Dusan Vlahoviฤ‡ of Juventus is also under consideration as another potential signing.

For Boniface, this defeat is difficult, yet if he returns to complete health, new chances in Europe could still arise.
