The Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) has formally launched its cash office and commercial center in Arua town.

A 1.7 billion shilling multipurpose two-story facility located at Prisons cell, Arua Central Division, was built by the UPDF Engineering Unit. It includes a SACCO branch, living quarters, and commercial areas such as offices, a retail center, pubs, eateries, and meeting rooms.

Work commenced in August 2024, with the structure formally inaugurated on August 22, 2025.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of Wazalendo SACCO, Col Yusuf Magero Buha, characterized the SACCO as robust and financially independent, boasting assets exceeding 1 trillion shillings. He mentioned that the SACCO was established to enhance the well-being of military personnel and their loved ones.

A spokesperson from the 4th Infantry Division, Godfrey Anang, stated that Wazalendo SACCO, being a top SACCO in the nation, ought to act as a model for enhancing and strengthening the capabilities of other challenging SACCOs.

Major General Justus Rukundo, head of the oversight committee at Wazalendo SACCO, stated that the project delivered good value and encouraged residents to utilize the low-cost commercial and living areas available.

Similarly, the chairman of the board of directors at Wazalendo SACCO, Mr. Allan Kitanda, urged regional local authorities to collaborate with Wazalendo Investment Ltd., the SACCO’s commercial division, particularly in infrastructure development such as roads.

The city commissioner from Arua, Salim Kumakech, who served as the main guest during the event, commended the UPDF Engineering Brigade and the SACCO administration for their openness, which led to high-quality projects at low expenses.
