Wendy’s has introduced a special Australian menu following their long-awaited arrival with their renowned square-shaped burgers in Australia.

The well-loved American quick-service restaurant made its debut in Surfer’s Paradise in January, bringing joy to enthusiasts who had been eagerly anticipating the signature dishes they’ve admired from a distance for many years.

It sets itself apart from McDonald’s and Hungry Jack’s with a strict made-to-order policy, avoiding pre-prepared foods or keeping items warm under heating lamps.

The updated menu presents a modern twist on traditional American cuisine, featuring an array of products uniquely available in the Australian market and adjusted to suit local preferences.

This includes the 100 percent Australian chicken burger, the OG square hamburger crafted from Aussie beef, the Baconmator, loaded fries, and the Wendy’s Frosty dessert (a thick shake).

Every Australian chicken strip is double breaded by hand at the restaurant location and comes in two flavors: ‘Homestyle’ or distinctive ‘Aussie Spicy’.

These tenders are highlighted across various dishes such as chicken burgers, wraps, along with the three-piece and five-piece tender combos.

For the first time ever, Wendy’s has pulled out all stops – featuring specialized fryers, unique seasonings, and crafting an exclusive signature dipping sauce specifically for the Australian market.

The Baconmator is expected to be the top choice, featuring two quarter-pound patties made from premium Australian beef, complemented with bacon, cheese, ketchup, and mayonnaise served on a toasted brioche-style bun.

Lauren Leahy, who serves as the Chief Transformation Officer at Flynn Group—the master franchise holder for Wendy’s in Australia—stated that ‘introducing Wendy’s to Australia has been an exhilarating expedition of research and innovation’.

“We soon understood that a straightforward lift-and-shift method wasn’t going to be effective,” she confessed.

‘We have dedicated our efforts to comprehending local flavor preferences, specifically regarding spiciness and crispness, during the development of the recipe for the hand-battered Australian chicken tenders.’

The group went through over 25 revisions to get the breaded chicken strips just right, customized precisely for the preferences of Australian customers.

The Wendy’s Company along with its franchise owners employs hundreds of thousands of individuals across over 7,000 eateries globally.

Established in 1969, this place is renowned for its custom-made square burgers crafted from fresh beef along with popular items such as the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and chicken nuggets.

It ranks as the third biggest burger franchise globally, following closely after McDonald’s and Burger King (known as Hungry Jack’s in Australia).

The launch of the Gold Coast location signifies the beginning of numerous Wendy’s outlets set to open across Australia under the management of the new master franchisee, Flynn Group.

Flynn is well-acquainted with the Australian market, having successfully acquired more than 260 Pizza Hut outlets across the country in 2023.

In response to increasing demand, Wendy’s has expanded its operating hours to run from Sunday through Thursday between 9:30 AM and 11 PM, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 AM until midnight.
