Dhaka, April 10 — A mob attack occurred in the Sylhetia Bazar area of Kamrangirchar late Wednesday evening, resulting in two fatalities and one person sustaining injuries.

The victims have been identified as Nadim, who is the son of Sultan Mia from Shahidnagar in Lalbagh, and Masud, the son of Sona Mia from the Acharwala Ghat area in Kamrangirchar.

The individual who was hurt, known as 30-year-old Sohag, is presently in police custody following medical attention received at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Sub-Inspector Amanullah Aman from the Kamrangirchar Police Station stated that Masud was killed instantly after being attacked by a crowd.

Nadim, who suffered severe wounds, was rushed to DMCH, and physicians pronounced him deceased at approximately 11:30 pm.

Inspector Sheikh Lutfor Rahman from the Kamrangirchar Police Station stated that a local entrepreneur had earlier lodged a complaint with them regarding alleged extortions involving multiple persons in the region.

On Wednesday evening, a group of four to five individuals reportedly visited Sylhetia Bazaar with what seemed like an intention to exert pressure on the businessman, urging him to drop the legal case against them. They were alleged to have made threatening statements during this encounter.

A dispute erupted, attracting the notice of nearby residents who apprehended three of the individuals and assaulted them.

Masud passed away immediately, whereas Nadim and Sohag were rushed to the hospital.

The rest were able to escape. The remains have been stored at the DMCH mortuary for examination.

The matter is currently being investigated, stated the OC.
