Donald Trump has stated that the U.S. will take all necessary measures to exert authority over Greenland, following plans for an American delegation to tour the Danish territory later this week.

The delegation, which includes

, will visit only the U.S. military base in Thule, although they initially planned to make a stop in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.

For several weeks now, the President of the United States has been openly expressing his desire to gain control over the Arctic region, referring to both national and global security issues as reasons for this move.
