Apparently, one of the two men who approached a vendor as potential buyers allegedly slashed the vendor’s throat and then escaped with his merchandise without making payment.

The Abuja Metro learned that the incident occurred on Wednesday morning at Gate 1 in Dutse-Alhaji town within the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The victim, Babangida Abdullahi (25), who would typically sell waist belts there, was involved.

Talking to Abuja Metro from his bedside at Kubwa General Hospital on Thursday, the victim recounted how he was accosted by the two individuals, who feigned interest as potential buyers and insisted on purchasing the belts from him.

One of them took one of my belts valued at N1500 and put it in his pocket. When I questioned him about this, he declined to return the belt to me and also didn’t purchase it.

He proceeded to take out a sharp instrument from his pocket, cutting me across my throat, then escaped by running over the expressway.

A health worker on shift informed our correspondent that the injured person was transported to the medical facility by an officer of law enforcement. The healthcare provider also mentioned that a procedure took place on the patient’s neck, focusing on blood vessels near the main artery in that area.

The health authority additionally lamented that until then, nobody had come forward as a member, family member, or acquaintance of the deceased, forcing them to cover the costs for medications, injections, and various treatments out of their own pockets.

In response, Dr. Emmanuel Musa, the Chief Medical Director at the hospital, stated that they would devise a plan to attend to the victim and locate their next of kin.
