A well-known fast-food chain called Tenya, famous for its crunchy tempura dishes and genuine Japanese taste, will shut down its remaining locations at Terminal 21 and Samyan Mitrtown on August 31, signaling the conclusion of its operations in Thailand.

“Every branch of Tenya Thailand will shut down on August 31. Tenya appreciates your trust and usage of their services. I hope Tenya remains a pleasant memory for all customers with each meal,” the restaurant stated in a Facebook update.

It did not disclose the cause of its shutdown.

First introduced in Asakusa, Japan, back in 1989, Tendon Tenya gained popularity with both visitors and residents, later growing to more than 100 outlets across the globe.

The brand made its debut in Thailand in 2015 through the Central Restaurants Group, opening its initial location at Central Bangna.

Many internet users shared their disappointment over the restaurant’s closing.

“This is one of my top dining spots each week. I really wish I could return when the timing is better. I still enjoy the udon noodles here the most,” a user commented.

The place I love most. I have been dining there since my college days, and even now that I am married.

Although I visited Japan, I dined at Tenya in Tokyo. “I am looking forward to the day we reunite,” someone else commented.

“Thanks always. I have been dining here since it first opened,” someone else commented.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
