Tawa Bolarin, who leads Enterprise Business and Wholesale at Telecel Ghana, has emphasized the importance of bolstering female-owned enterprises and highlighted how crucial strategic alliances are for fostering their development.

At the unveiling of Absa Bank Ghanaโ€™s ‘She Business’, an enhanced service designed to assist female business owners with significant loan options without requiring collateral, Tawa emphasized the continuing partnership between Telecel and Absa via Telecel Ghanaโ€™s pioneering Women in Business program. This initiative aims to tackle the specific obstacles encountered by women running businesses.

“I’m thrilled to mark the debut of Absaโ€™s ‘She Business’ initiative and discuss the remarkable efforts we’re undertaking jointly to revolutionize female-owned enterprises. Together, this will guarantee the expansion and durability of women-run small and medium-sized businesses,” she stated.

Absa’s ‘She Business’ offering provides loan facilities without collaterals up to GHC 2 million with an annual interest rate of 10 percent for qualified women entrepreneurs. This program is part of Absa’s larger strategy aimed at addressing Ghana’s approximate $6.1 billion financing gap for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs).

Dr. Edward Nartey Botchway, the Managing Director of Absa Bank Ghana, stated that ‘She Business’ “demonstrates our commitment to assisting women entrepreneurs in capitalizing on genuine business prospects. We see this as an excellent chance to establish a system aimed at fostering the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.”

The Director of SME Banking and Partnerships at Absa Bank, Audrey Abakah, stated that the ‘She Business’ initiative marks an advancement in the bank’s current efforts to address the increasing financial requirements of female entrepreneurs. “We have tailored our strategy according to feedback from women who highlighted three key aspects they cherish: hands-on assistance, accessible loans, and a banking partner that recognizes their capabilities and accompanies them throughout each phase of development,” she clarified. “‘She Business’ aims to fulfill these demands comprehensively.”

The gathering brought together top officials from Absa Bank Ghana, female entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and government policy-makers, along with participants from organizations such as Mastercard Foundation, Hollard Ghana, DHL Group, Ghana Export Promotion Authority, and Development Bank Ghana.

Detailing the particular advantages of the six key areas supporting the telecoms leader’s Women in Business initiativeโ€”Empower, Assure, Accelerate, Reach, Engage, and Rewardโ€”Tawa encouraged female business owners to leverage the chances offered by Absa Bankโ€™s She Business program as well as Telecel’s Women in Business offering to revamp their enterprises.

I urge every woman entrepreneur to fully utilize the Absa ‘She Business’ account and the Telecel Women in Business package to foster the expansion and scalability of their ventures. Our commitment lies in building an environment where female business owners can flourish and achieve their maximum potential.

The Telecel Women in Business program provides an extensive range of customized resources, services, and events designed specifically for female entrepreneurs running small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). This includes opportunities for collateral-free financing, health and life insurance packages, assistance with digital marketing, access to educational platforms, along with various networking and rewards initiatives.
