As stated by Francois Fevrier, the CEO of Water and R&R at Suez Asia, the company offers specialized skills and technological proficiency for industrial zones throughout Asia, providing advanced ecological services to 22 parks in the area. Given Vietnamโ€™s ongoing industrial expansion, Suez remains dedicated to aiding the nationโ€™s sustainable development via cutting-edge water management and waste disposal strategies.

When Vietnam inaugurated its first industrial park back in 1963, the nation went on to establish over 400 of these zones. In an effort to tackle issues related to industrial water use and waste managementโ€”including boosting wastewater standards, ensuring consistent effluent levels, and upgrading pipeline systemsโ€”the authorities have implemented rigorous environmental regulations and discharge guidelines aimed at fostering superior developmental outcomes.

In line with its environmental shift, approximately 40-50% of regions in Vietnam plan to convert their current industrial zones into eco-friendly industrial areas by the year 2030. With vast expertise under its belt, Suez is ideally situated to support this continuous metamorphosis.

Positioned at a strategic location less than an hourโ€™s drive away from Ho Chi Minh City, Chau Duc Industrial Park stands out as the biggest industrial park in South Vietnam. This significant facility acts as a major center for various industries including semiconductors, machinery, and car components. It functions as a vital entry point for foreign enterprises looking to invest in Vietnamโ€™s growing industrial sector, playing a crucial role in boosting the nation’s economy.

In the initial stage of the partnership between Suez and Sonadezi, they aim to improve, operate, and maintain current wastewater treatment plants. This project intends to provide extensive wastewater management for more than 100 industries located within the Chau Duc Industrial Park. With ongoing development at the park and increasing environmental regulations, this collaborative effort plans to investigate ways to refine water and waste services using cutting-edge infrastructure and technology.

Suez boasts an impressive 160-year legacy in managing water and waste resources. For over twenty years, the corporation has offered comprehensive environmental solutions throughout Asia. Specifically in Vietnam, Suez has collaborated with local partners since 1955, implementing more than 20 initiatives aimed at providing reliable potable water supply and effective sewage treatment services.

“The signing of this agreement represents another important milestone for us as we continue to offer dependable and affordable solutions to our industrial clients for handling effluents and waste, thereby supporting Vietnamโ€™s sustainability objectives,” stated a representative from Suez.

Suezโ€™s activities persist in tackling escalating environmental issues, offering crucial services that enhance daily living standards. Operating in 40 nations with a workforce of 40,000 individuals, Suez partners with clients to generate value over the entire lifespan of their resources and offerings, promoting shifts towards lower carbon footprints.

In 2023, Suez supplied potable water to 57 million individuals globally and offered sanitation services to more than 36 million people. The firm produced 7.7 terawatt-hours of power from refuse and sewage materials. Additionally, Suez declared revenues amounting to EUR 8.9 billion (approximately US$9.6 billion) for that year.

About seven decades ago, Suez established itself in Southeast Asia before extending its reach into China five decades back. Currently boasting a workforce exceeding 6,500 individuals throughout Asia, the firm has constructed upwards of 600 facilities dedicated to treating both water and sewage. Additionally, Suez provides recycling and resource recovery solutions for water and waste management benefiting more than 25 million inhabitants and serving 22 industrial zones within this area. The company stands out as a frontrunner in Chinaโ€™s environmental industry, establishing standards for environmental service provision across industries in the zone.

Currently, Suez collaborates with both municipal and industrial customers spanning 30 key urban areas and regions within China. The company oversees the initial public-private partnership (PPP) water agreement in Macao, runs one of the biggest hazardous waste incinerators in Asia located in Shanghai, and has committed more than RMB 6 billion ($826.7 million) in projects based in Chongqing.
