Sky Reporter Ted Kravitz Apologizes for Awkward George Russell Joke Before Mercedes Team

  • George Russell came in third place at the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday.

  • Despite his brake issues, he couldn’t manage to overtake Lando Norris in second place.

An uncomfortable incident occurred following the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday when Sky Sports commentator Ted Kravitz made a remark in front of representatives from the Mercedes team.

The accident occurred when Kravitz was heading toward the Mercedes paddock after the race concluded.

Norris encountered a problem with his brake pedal towards the end of the race, yet Russell couldn’t manage to overtake him.

Kravitz playfully mocked his inability to do it in front of several of the team’s engineers, later feeling remorse for this action.

Kravitz remarked to the Mercedes team members, “George Russell couldn’t even pass Lando Norris, who apparently has no brakes. What’s going on with George Russell?”


Before things turned somewhat uncomfortable and Kravitz retreated, the team found humor in the situation.

“I understand, I understand, there were reasons for that. My apologies, that was somewhat uncomfortable,” he remarked as he continued on his way.

Piastri controlled almost every lap at the Shanghai International Circuit, with Norris finishing just behind his teammate as McLaren showcased their remarkable pace by securing a one-two victory.

Russell finished third, leading Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who overtook Leclerc with three laps left. Although Hamilton came in sixth, far behind, Ferrari cars received disqualifications afterward.
