At least six individuals are believed to have perished after the submarine, which was transporting 44 passengers, sunk offshore.

Another nine individuals have sustained injuries, with four of them being critical, in the incident that occurred approximately a kilometer away from the vacation destination of Hurghada earlier today.

Cheerful clips captured by former Sindbad travelers sharply contrast with the horrifying disaster that occurred today.

A clip demonstrates how many younger families frequently undertake these excursions, descending 80 feet under the sea in pursuit of an adrenaline rush.

Kids are spotted looking out through round windows, excitedly showing their parents the vibrant schools of fish swimming by.

Scuba divers enhance the experience by gesturing to the passengers and providing food for the marine life.

In another video snippet, a family presses their hands against the glass and smiles as an underwater photographer captures images from the exterior.

Additional video clips reveal how travelers are transferred from a boat onto the submarine; upon arrival, they get a comprehensive briefing prior to descending and embarking on their journey aboard the craft.

Upon boarding, they sit closely together on the floor as they listen intently to a tour guide speaking via a speaker system.

Past trips on Sindbad have been met with enthusiastic praise โ€” with one family describing it as a ‘fantastic experience,’ and another stating that the journey was ‘incredibly awesome.’

However, earlier today, the Red Sea Security Directorate was informed about the sinking of the tourist submarine. This incident occurred near the harbor in front of the marina at a well-known hotel whose identity has not been disclosed by local media outlets.

The Red Sea Health Directorate and the Egyptian Ambulance Authority have reportedly been put on high alert following the incident, according to sources who informed the newspaper.

About 21 ambulances have been sent to the site of the incident and have been moving the wounded to nearby medical facilities such as Al-Kawthar Hospital because of the critical nature of their injuries.

The 44 passengers from various countries were on a marine excursion to observe Egyptโ€™s coral reefs and tropical fish when the ship, capable of diving down to depths of around 72 feet, submerged.

The submarine has been operating tourist trips in Hurghada for several years.

As stated by the operator, Sharm Hurghada Excursions, the submarine excursion lasts for three hours and has an admission fee of ยฃ68 for each adult ticket, with childrenโ€™s tickets priced at ยฃ35.

The firm prides itself on offering tours where guests can marvel at Hurghada’s marine life and vast coral reefs, have a diving adventure without getting wet, and observe aquatic creatures from as deep as 72 feet below the surface.

It also claims it holds two of the only ’14 real recreational submarines’ in the world.

The Sindbad Submarines website goes on to say: “It provides 44 passenger seatsโ€”two of which are designated for the pilotsโ€”and includes a large circular viewing window for each passenger.”

The reasons and details surrounding the sinking have not been verified or shared yet.

Hurghada attracts many British and German tourists and offers various sea excursions departing from the shoreline.

It isnโ€™t the first occurrence of an accident with tourist boats happening in the seas near this coastal metropolis.

Last November, a tourist vessel called Sea Story capsized off the coast of Egypt’s Red Sea.

The vessel went down close to Shaab Satayah, a well-liked dive site with its vibrant coral reefs, situated near the holiday destination of Marsa Alam during the dawn hours of November 25.

The survivors from the ship reported that a ‘huge ocean wave’ struck it and led to its capsizing within ‘around five to seven minutes,’ according to Red Sea Governor Amr Hanafi at the time.

The event took place amid severe weather, characterized by the Egyptian Red Sea Ports Authority recording waves between 10 to 13 feet high and winds at 34 knots in the region. This led to the suspension of marine activities.

The vessel set off for a diving expedition from Ghalib Port in Marsa Alam on November 24 and was expected to reach Hurghada Marina by November 29.

It was reported that some of the survivors were airlifted to land by a helicopter for medical attention, whereas others were taken by another vessel.

Last month, UK investigators stated that there have been 16 occurrences related to ‘liveaboard’ boats in the region over the past five years, with several of these incidents leading to fatalities.
