Kathmandu, April 9 – The International Scout Volunteers Group (ISVG) Nepal along with Shanghai Haishan Culture Media Co Limited have agreed to collaborate for promoting the Chinese language and fostering cultural exchanges between China and Nepal.

Pending approval from the Social Welfare Council, the NGO based in Kathmandu intends to carry out youth empowerment initiatives with assistance from the firm in Shanghai. This collaboration will involve teaching Chinese language and fostering cultural exchanges between Nepal and China.

ISVG is an international program active in more than 78 countries worldwide. In 2022, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, ISVG Nepal came into existence with the aim of delivering age-appropriate life and ethical instruction to young people, consistent with Scout values.

On Wednesday morning, approximately two dozen elected officials from various local governments in Nepal convened for an interaction session in Kathmandu with a team from Haishan Media, headed by its founder Ni Haishan.

The delegates expressed their enthusiasm about incorporating Chinese language instruction into their educational programs, particularly within local public schools. Ni agreed to assist and proposed offering housing solutions for the Chinese teachers participating in these initiatives.

In 2018, Ni set up the Haishan Foundation with a commitment from the firm to donate an annual sum of 2 million RMB aimed at aiding disadvantaged students, as stated by company officials.

The accord focuses on bolstering Nepal-China ties via educational initiatives, leadership programs, and cultural exchange activities.

As part of this agreement, both organizations intend to provide instruction in the Chinese language and cultural education for individuals across all age groups—children, teenagers, and adults—in chosen regions of Nepal, with particular emphasis on distant locations.

Ajit Khadka, the ISVG Nepal national head commissioner, mentioned that the program will commence once they obtain approval from the Social Welfare Council.

Both parties are working together to offer vocational and skills-oriented training aimed at enhancing employment opportunities and economic self-sufficiency among local community members. Additionally, they plan to educate ISVG Nepal volunteers in teaching the Chinese language as well as developing their leadership capabilities.

This agreement also aims at boosting tourism and the sale of handicrafts from Nepal.

To achieve this, Haishan Media has consented to assist in establishing and overseeing Chinese language centers, as well as covering the fundamental costs associated with instructors and volunteers.

It is reported that ISVG Nepal works alongside educational institutions, locally elected officials, and craftsmen to achieve its objectives.
