Quincy Ayodele Speaks: The Truth Behind Iluyomade’s Departure From City of David Pastor Role

The socialite and alternative health advocate Quincy Ayodele stated that contrary to rumors, the ex-pastor of the City of David Chapel at the Redeemed Christian Church of God located on Victoria Island in Lagos, Idowu Iluyomade, did not “rebelp” against the congregation. Instead, she clarified that he completed his assigned suspension period at the Ebute Metta branch of the church as directed.

In an interview with media figure Ifedayo Olarinde, known as Daddy Freeze, Ayodele disclosed the backstage turmoil that ensued after Iluyomade was suspended and eventually “exiled” from the City of David, which is among the most prestigious congregations within the RCCG.

“He complied with the suspension mandate. Continuously, he attended the RCCG headquarters in Ebute Meta. We expected him to be transferred elsewhere. However, he was excluded instead,” she stated.

Ayodele, who has been a part of the RCCG for 32 years and calls himself a “church planter,” revealed that efforts to resolve the issue through mediation with the leadership proved unsuccessful, even after he personally approached General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

She said, “Individuals were pleading desperately, lying on the ground, asking Dad to grant forgiveness. However, he remained steadfast. My father receives guidance directly from God. Unless God has instructed otherwise, nobody else’s opinion matters.”

Iluyomade’s problems started following his wife, Siju, hosting an extravagant birthday celebration mere days after the devastating helicopter accident that took the lives of ex-Access Bank CEO Herbert Wigwe, along with his spouse and eldest child. It was noted that Wigwe was considered one of the congregation’s most significant financial supporters.

Ayodele mentioned that she hadn’t attended the event since it was organized well ahead of Wigwe’s passing. The festive material (known as ebi) was also dispatched to the spouse of the Chief Leader, Pastor Folu Adeboye.

“I understand his suspension was intended to pacify public anger, but completely barring him from everything after all he has done for the RCCG and Daddy GO is quite hurtful,” she stated.

She mentioned that Pastor Iluyomade, who was previously regarded as “RCCG royalty,” dedicated himself entirely to both the church and its leaders.

She pointed out that the new church Iluyomade now heads didn’t emerge from ambition.

“He had no intention of establishing another church. It started when people from his neighborhood continually sought him out for prayer,” she explained.

However, she mentioned that she did not join Iluyomade’s new ministry as she thought that the dispute could potentially be resolved someday.
