As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon MGM is unhappy with the present state of the showโ€™s second season. According to sources cited by The Hollywood Reporter, the launch has been delayed, and development on all Citadel spin-off shows has been halted temporarily. The firm hasnโ€™t set an official resumption date for the series as of yet.

Initially conceived as an extensive global franchise featuring multiple international adaptations such as ‘Citadel: Diana’ from Italy and ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ from India, these series have achieved success within their local markets. However, plans for additional spin-offs have been put on hold until after the completion of Season 2.

Since its debut, the series has encountered numerous problems. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, substantial do-overs and financial overages during its premiere season caused expenses to soar up to an astounding $235 million. Even with this significant expenditure leading to varied critical feedback, the program secured renewal for a follow-up season.

The filming for the second season wrapped up in November 2023; nonetheless, Amazon MGM is currently implementing modifications to enhance the end result.

In addition to these complexities, Jennifer Salke, the ex-Amazon MGM executive who initially supported the Citadel initiative, has been taken off her role not long ago.
