On April 2, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a briefing from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi regarding national security and the repatriation process for Afghan citizens. During this session, they discussed safety protocols set up ahead of Eidul Fitr as well as advancements made towards sending back unregistered Afghans and those possessing Afghan Citizen Cards. Additionally, Mr. Naqvi informed the prime minister about recent law enforcement activities concerning these repatriations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz showed contentment regarding the tranquil atmosphere during Eid and commended the work done by law enforcement agencies. He recognized their contribution to providing safety and stability throughout the festive season. The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of upholding law and order nationwide.

The meeting likewise examined the steps taken by the Ministry of Interior regarding the repatriation of Afghans. By the earlier set date, 886,242 Afghan citizens had been sent back to their home country. Nonetheless, the administration stated that further legal measures would be implemented against individuals still not complying with the repatriation regulations.

Considering the observance of Eid, the federal government has decided to push back the deportation deadline for Afghan nationals. The initial date was March 31 but has now been moved to next week. Those Afghans who possess an Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) will be subject to deportation after this revised deadline.
