New Delhi [India], March 27 (ANI): On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a conversation with King Philippe of Belgium. During their discussion, they explored ways to strengthen the robust bilateral relationship between India and Belgium.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his appreciation for the recent Belgian Economic Delegation visit to India, which was headed by Princess Astrid.

On a post on X, he stated, “I had the privilege of speaking with HM King Philippe of Belgium. I valued the recent visit of the Belgian Economic Delegation to India, which was headed by HRH Princess Astrid. Our conversation revolved around strengthening our robust bi-lateral relationship, enhancing trade and investments, and promoting cooperation in innovation and sustainability.”


On March 4, Prime Minister Modi met with Princess Astrid of Belgium and expressed his enthusiasm for exploring new avenues and forming collaborations across multiple sectors to unlock potential opportunities between their nations.

Prime Minister Modi likewise commended Princess Adrid for heading a 300-strong Economic Delegation to India.

On a post on X, he stated, “It was an honor to encounter HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium. I greatly value her efforts in spearheading a 300-strong Economic Delegation to India. I am excited about the potential to create countless opportunities for our citizens via fresh collaborations in areas such as commerce, technological advancement, defense, farming, biotechnology, creativity, vocational training, and educational interactions.”


As the second offspring of King Albert II and Queen Paola, Princess Astrid serves as an envoy for Belgiumโ€™s king during economic endeavors. These initiatives aim at fostering stronger commercial ties and boosting economic growth between Belgium along with its distinct territories and various international counterparts, according to a release issued by the Belgian monarchy.

The telephone conversation between Prime Minister Modi and the King occurred during a critical time, as the Belgian administration is diligently tracking the situation involving absconding Indian entrepreneur Mehul Choksi. This matter is receiving considerable focus, stated David Jordens, Spokesperson and Head of Service for social media and press at Belgiumโ€™s Federal Public Service (FPS) Foreign Affairs.

In response to inquiries regarding Choksi’s potential location in Belgium, Jordens said, โ€œWe at the Federal Public Service (FPS) Foreign Affairs acknowledge this matter and consider it significant and noteworthy.
