ABUJA

President Bola Tinubu firmly denounced the recent bandit assaults in Plateau State on Saturday, stating that such attacks on innocent civilians will not be tolerated by his government.

Tinubu, via a statement from his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, affirmed that those responsible for the attack would face serious repercussions.

Remember that violence erupted once more in Plateau, resulting in numerous fatalities in the Ruwi, Hurti, and Tadai areas within Bokkos Local Government.

The development that reached the President was a sorrowful one, leading him to issue a statement expressing condolences to the families of the victims.

By taking this action, the President expressed his sympathy to the Government of Plateau State and Governor Caleb Mutfwang, encouraging the impacted communities to work alongside law enforcement and security forces by providing necessary information to apprehend those responsible and ensure the safety of their areas.

I offer my sympathies to the loved ones of the deceased in Ruwi, Hurti, and Tadai areas within the Bokkos Local Government, as well as to those from Manguna and Dafo villages, which were targeted by vicious assaults carried out by armed attackers, leading to fatalities and property damage, the president stated.

He proceeded to pledge his backing to Governor Mutfwang in putting an end to this wave of indiscriminate bloodshed in Plateau state.

He instructed the National Emergency Management Agency to collaborate with state officials to offer essential assistance to the victims and deliver prompt aid to the impacted communities and those injured during the assaults. The agency will cooperate closely with local authorities to guarantee that the affected areas can reconstruct and recuperate.

The President commented, “I am disheartened by reports of yet another brutal assault carried out by senseless assailants within the communities of Plateau State. These recent acts of violence against innocent civilians are utterly intolerable. I have instructed law enforcement authorities to track down these criminals, who will be met with stringent consequences upon their capture.”

These sporadic assaults have no business being part of our nation as we strive diligently to reinstate peace and stability across all regions. Such an unhappy occurrence shall neither diminish nor impede our commitment to safeguarding each Nigerian citizen. On the contrary, these events will only fuel our resolve to eradicate nefarious elements from their hiding places throughout our land.

Our condolences and support go out to the families of the victims and everyone impacted by this senseless act of violence. Such tragedies should not be endured by any community. It’s crucial for each one of us to come together and promote harmony and security. I encourage every citizen, irrespective of their background in terms of ethnicity, religion, or politics, to recognize our common human bond, advocate for peace, and shun revenge.
