Legends scored two goals in the Reds’ 2-0 victory and performed his famous robot celebration for the first goal.

The match on Saturday celebrated Chelseaโ€™s 2004-05 season, during which they secured their very first title.
Premier League
and the first championship title in half a century, as well as the
EFL Cup
after defeating Liverpool in the finale.

The two teams also went head-to-head in the
Champions League
semifinal that season, where the Reds won through two matches.

Several prominent figures on both sides were Gianfranco Zola, Claude Makelele, William Gallas.
Steven Gerrard
, Dirk Kuyt and Crouch. Sir Kenny Dalglish was at the helm of the Liverpool Legends team, whereas the Chelsea Legends side was coached by Roberto Di Matteo.

At 44 years old, Crouch appeared as though he hadnโ€™t missed a beat. The 6-foot-7 ex-striker connected with a cross from Sinama-Pongolle, rose majestically above everyone else, and powered the ball into the net to take the lead at 1-0.

Crouch joyfully danced in front of the Kop, going so far as to pull off his famous robot celebration. He had similarly executed this move after scoring his 100th Premier League goal during a match with Stoke City back in 2017.

Soon afterward, the English player scored his second goal of the half, extending his team’s advantage with a strike in the 66th minute.

Crouch managed to rise higher than Robert Huth but couldnโ€™t connect properly with Mark Gonzรกlez’s long pass from the far side. Nonetheless, the ball landed well for him, allowing him to chip the goalkeeper using his right foot.

Following the match, Liverpoolโ€™s team circled Anfield for a victory lap as the stadium remained nearly packed with fans.

While speaking full-time, Crouch shared the emotions tied to his return to Anfield, where he had previously played 85 matches and netted 22 goals from 2005 to 2008, donning the same jersey again.

Even though he was a lifelong supporter of Chelsea from his childhood days, Crouchโ€™s extensive 21-year football journey took him through 12 distinct teams without ever including a stint at Stamford Bridge.

Crouch mentioned, “It’s actually quite an emotional experience for me since I never imagined returning to this place [Anfield] as a player.”

‘Playing in the match was incredible, primarily because of the Foundation, but scoring a few goals with my family and friends watching made it even more wonderful.’

The charity game was hosted by Liverpoolโ€™s official training partner AXA, with all proceeds gathered by the Reds being directed towards the LFC Foundation’s initiatives aimed at enhancing physical and mental well-being for individuals across various age groups within the Liverpool area.

During last year’s charitable match, the Foundation aided more than 127,000 individuals via their programs, conducting 18,000 sessions and events at 300 local venues such as 199 educational institutions.

In the meantime, the visitors collected money for the Chelsea Foundation, specifically benefiting the Chelsea Players’ Trust.

Steven Gerrard praised Crouch’s display following the match, commenting that his former teammate injected new energy into the game once he entered as a substitute at halftime with the score tied 0-0.

The ex-team captain mentioned: “Crouch transformed the match. I believe our performance was strong all through the game, but we simply required some brilliance, an injection of creativity from the bench, and the tall fellow delivered exactly what we needed.”
