What People Are Saying:

It was exceptionally delicious and surprisingly simple to prepare. I wouldnโ€™t tweak anything about it. Prepared yesterday; completely consumed today. Definitely planning to bring this along when we head to the beach later this summerโ€”I jotted it down, confirming it as a must-keep recipe!

How to Prepare a Peach Crumble

INGREDIENTS

  • Peaches:

As implied by its title, this timeless dessert heavily relies on the quality of the peaches. Although the crumble topping is delightful, our main focus should be on having an exceptionally fruity and succulent peach, allowing us to fully enjoy its fresh, flowery, and subtly tangy flavors.

  • Granulated Sugar:

The sugar added will not only sweeten the dish but also help break down the peaches somewhat, resulting in a delightful syrupy-sweet sauce at the bottom of the panโ€”a treat I simply cannot resist.

  • Lemon Juice:

Frequently in recipes for baked items containing fruits like peaches, you’ll find lemon juice listed among the ingredients. The reason behind this is that the tangy and acidic nature of the lemon juice enhances the natural flavor profile of the primary fruit, making the peach taste more vibrant and pronounced.

  • Cinnamon & Ginger:

Although numerous fruits pair beautifully with warming spices like cinnamon and ginger, I believe that peaches form the ideal match. The luscious, sun-kissed taste of peaches complements perfectly the warmth, subtle spiciness, and fragrant essence of ginger and cinnamon. Itโ€™s hard for me to imagine a cozier blend.

  • All-Purpose Flour:

The flour will assist in forming a simple crumble mixture. When mixed with brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and melted butter, the flour forms little clumps that turn into crunchy outsides with tender insides when baked. These crumbles almost dissolve upon encountering the heated peaches.

  • Brown Sugar:

When it comes to preparing crumbles, cobblers, or crisps, brown sugar is your go-to ingredient. Its rich molasses taste adds an extra layer of warmth and comfort to these baked treats.

  • Melted Butter:

Apart from enhancing the flavor, butter also adds essential moisture to the crumble mixture here. It aids in binding the ingredients together and creates those delightful golden brown chunks when baked.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Heat up your oven, and whilst waiting for it to reach temperature, mix together the peaches, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, ginger, and salt in a big bowl. Ensure every piece of peach gets evenly covered.

Next, in a medium-sized mixing bowl, mix together the dry components and add the liquefied butter, stirring gently until you achieve a rough crumbs consistency. Be careful not to overdo it; our aim is merely a crumbliness rather than an evenly mixed blend.

Transfer the peach mixture into a baking dish and distribute the crumb topping uniformly across the surface, ensuring complete coverage to guarantee every mouthful includes both fruit and crunch.

At this point, your oven should have reached the desired temperature. Put the baking dish inside and let it cook for 45 to 50 minutes, until the surface turns golden brown and the peaches start to bubble enthusiastically.

Next, take the dish out of the oven and serve it while still warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

Recipe Tips

  • The more ripe your peaches are, the sweeter and yummier this simple dessert turns out to be.

If your peaches arenโ€™t quite up to par from the start, the lemon juice can enhance their fruity flavor, so make sure not to leave it out!

  • Keep the skin!

We like to leave the skin on our peaches, mainly because you lose a lot of that delicious fruit flavor and beautiful, blush color when peeling peaches. But if you aren’t a fan of the skin, feel free to peel your fruit!

  • At what point should I prepare a peach crumble?

This is perfect when paired with a scoop of cold ice cream on a hot summer day. However, should you crave it during winter, hereโ€™s what you can do:
