Washington [US], April 7 (ANI): Actor
Paul Giamatti
has spoken about the emotional experience of reprising his role in ‘
Downton Abbey
The Final Act Following
Maggie Smith
‘s passing.

According to Deadline, during a recent interview, the actor discussed how the movie pays tribute to Smith’s legacy and stated, “She was missed greatly, yet it seemed as though we were honoring her somehow. Everyone continued to perform with her essence guiding us all.”

Giamatti, who first showed up in the series’ Season 4 holiday episode, was taken aback when he was invited to return for the movie.

He teased that his character, Harold Levinson, has a significant role in the movie, and said, “The interesting thing for me was that they even asked me at all because I was like, ‘I don’t have an important character in this story,’” as quoted by Deadline.

The film features a star-studded cast, including Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, and Simon Russell Beale, as well as mainstays from the original series.

Gareth Neame, the executive producer, previously disclosed that the movie will feature a “significant” homage to Smith, who portrayed Violet Crawley and died in the preceding film.

The movie is scheduled for a theater release on September 12. (ANI)
