Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, has characterized the death of Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, the former Publicity Secretary of APC in Ogun State, as a significant setback for political engagement.

In a statement released on Saturday, Salako mentioned that the deceased Oladunjoye was renowned for his directness, astute political skills, commitment to social causes, and efforts in advocating through the media.

He mentioned that the late individual, who previously served as the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, was an actor whom most political groups would rather have on their side instead of being against them.

The statement says: “In complete surrender to the will of the Almighty Allah, I extend my sincere condolences for the passing away of an insightful journalist, social commentator, administrator, and political activist, Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye.”

Comrade Oladunjoye, whose passing was reported late Friday, April 4, 2025, stood out as an exceptional journalist, having been a previous nominee for deputy governor. He also held multiple high-ranking political roles such as the Executive Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Senior Advisor to the Governor of Ogun State, and spokesman for the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State.

Affectionately referred to as CATO by his supporters, he was renowned for his directness, adept political maneuvering, commitment to social reform, and efforts in media promotion. His presence within political groups was highly valued compared to having him absent. His passing leaves a significant void in the APC, in Ogun State, and in the field of journalism.

As he transitions from the physical realm to the spiritual one, I earnestly hope that the All-Powerful Allah grants him entry into Jannah al-Firdaws. May the whole family, colleagues, and friends find strength to cope with the irreparable void left by this esteemed political figure’s passing. May his virtuous actions throughout life offer solace to those who mourn him and stand testament to his enduring legacy.

My sympathies go out to the Oladunjoye family, the government of Ogun State, the state branch of the APC party, and the traditional leadership of Ijebuland represented by His Royal Majesty Oba Dr Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON.
