Nigerians have been encouraged to adopt an active lifestyle through regular exercise and avoid harmful habits to reduce the risk of developing diabetes, hypertension, hyperglycemia, cardiac arrest, and other cardiovascular conditions.

The mentioned call took place on Saturday in Abuja when THF organized a roadshow walk aimed at raising awareness about the importance of engaging in physical exercise, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water, consuming vegetables, and eating fruits.

The community walk that began at the Family Worship Center (FWC) in Wuye and concluded at Utako Market saw participation from more than 100 volunteers. These individuals distributed pamphlets to the market vendors and advised them to emphasize healthy lifestyles and proper nutrition.

At the event, addressing reporters, Ti’Bilon Constructionโ€™s Managing Director and founder of the foundation, Tochukwu Nnamoko, emphasized the importance of Nigerian citizens adopting healthier dietary practices and avoiding harmful foods that could potentially harm vital organs such as the heart, kidneys, and liver.

Tochukwu, who is also a medical doctor, emphasized the importance of the walkathon, stating that it was based on the concern that younger generations haven’t been giving enough attention to their health and the quality of food they consume, which makes them more susceptible.

He mentioned several risk factors that could lead to heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes, such as poor nutrition, tobacco use, consuming fatty foods, drinking alcohol, insufficient physical activity, chronic stress, depression, and high cholesterol intake. He pointed out that individuals often develop serious health issues because of unhealthful dietary choices and lifestyles, frequently without realizing the severe repercussions involved.

Consequently, he urged Nigerians to prioritize their health and transform their lives, emphasizing the significance of raising awareness and committing himself to maintaining this momentum.

As he stated, “Most of the foods we consume are rich in starch and cholesterol, both of which are recognized contributors to diabetes and hypertensionโ€”conditions that pose significant health risks. Our purpose today is to promote increased physical activity. By encouraging more individuals to engage in regular exercise, we can lower the likelihood of developing hypertension, diabetes, and issues with blood sugar.”

At the event, Pastor Wilson Akubo from the church also spoke, urging Nigerians to prioritize their health and consume more natural foods. He advised them to maintain the correct balance of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and oils in their diets.

He praised the Ti’ Bilon Healthcare Foundation for their awareness initiative and urged them to keep spreading the message.

He stated, “Promoting a healthy lifestyle is extremely important since, when examining our community, we can observe that health problems are rising day by day. What used to affect only older individuals now impacts younger people as well.”

We recognized the importance of focusing on our well-being, and thus Ti’ Bilon has initiated this effort. We believe these initiatives can make a positive impact on people’s lives.

Allow your body to move freely, followed by proper nutrition, hydration, rest, and balanced meals with carbohydrates, proteins, olives, and fats in correct proportions. I am passionate about what we’re undertaking and believe we should keep maintaining this approach.
