JOAQUIN Niemann clinched victory at the LIV Golf Singapore tournament with a lead of five strokes, propelling him to the summit of the rebel tour’s rankings and keeping his chances alive for securing a spot in the US Open.

This season, the United States Golf Association (USGA) plans to grant a spot in the year’s third major championship to the highest-ranking golfer supported by the Saudi-backed tour who does not have another exemption.

The US Open in 2025 is the sole major tournament that Niemann has not yet secured qualification for.

“The aim is to make it to the majors,” stated the player from Mexico, who finished with a round of six-under-par 65, securing victory at 17 under par at Sentosa Golf Club.

Brooks Koepka, a five-time major champion, secured second place at 12-under par following his final round score of 65. Rounding out third place, one shot behind him, was New Zealand’s Ben Campbell with a Sunday round of 67.

Niemann remarked, ‘It felt like today everything aligned with me.’ He added, ‘My swings were fantastic, and I managed to stay focused during those challenging drives from the tee.’

“At the start of the round, I managed to get things moving swiftly. This allowed me to create momentum for the remainder of the entire round,” said the 26-year-old.

Fireballs GC, led by captain Sergio Garcia, secured their third successive LIV team championship following wins in Hong Kong last week and Adelaide.
