The Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, has initiated campaigns to motivate Bungoma residents to get registered as voters in preparation for the 2027 elections.

“Many young people avoid getting ID cards due to the burdensome restrictions they face. I’ve encountered Kenyans over 60 who lack these documents as they don’t fulfill the necessary criteria,” he stated.

He stated that the administration plans to distribute ID issuance offices more widely to expedite the acquisition of these documents.

“He mentioned that they met with the president, who concurred that the government would decentralize more ID-related services, excluding printing, to expedite the process and ensure applicants receive their documents promptly,” he said.

The Speaker encouraged Members of Parliament and Members of County Assemblies present to assist with boosting voter registration by making sure additional residents acquire identification cards.

“The finishing of the incomplete roads would connect the entire county and facilitate the transportation of individuals and commodities,” he mentioned additionally.

The politicians who supported the initiative to lease the factory included John Chikati from Tongaren, John Makali representing Kanduyi, Martin Pepela for Webuye East, and Didmus Barasa hailing from Kiminini.

The chairpersons of the MCAs at the gathering were County Assembly Speaker Emanuel Situma and Majority Leader Joseph Nyongesa.
