Man Utd and Arsenal Lead Clubs in Pursuit of Two Olympiacos Wonders amidst Greece’s New Golden Age

Teenagers Christoph Mouzakitis and Charalampos Kostoulas from Olympiacos are catching the attention of numerous clubs.

Mouzakitis, 18, and Kostoulas, 17, are part of a golden generation in Greek football that has Europe’s giants watching closely.

Earlier this month, Mouzakitis led the team as Greece secured a 3-0 victory in Scotland. Meanwhile, Kostoulas hasn’t made his senior international appearance yet but has scored six goals in 21 matches within the Greek domestic league.

Mouzakitis is a left-footed central midfielder whose playing style is similar to that of Marco Verratti, the former
Paris Saint-Germain
along with Italy’s standout player, as well as his role model
Luka Modric
.

He frequently served as a ball boy during matches at Olympiacos’ Karaiskakis Stadium, including when they lost 1-0.

In November 2020, when he made his senior debut for Greece against Finland, Mouzakitis became the youngest player ever to achieve this feat.

Kostoulas typically plays as a No 9 but is versatile enough to operate behind the center-forward or on either wing.



‘Despite increasing attention towards him, he remains an Olympiacos player,’ stated Olympiacos sporting director Darko Kovacevic. ‘He will definitely be with us for this season, and I hope much beyond.’

United, Arsenal, and Aston Villa are believed to have shown interest in scouting the duo, who have recently extended their contracts with Olympiacos — Mouzakitis until 2029 and Kostoulas until 2030.

Another prominent young talent from Greece, 17-year-old attacking midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas, is now with the Belgian team Genk and could potentially transfer during the upcoming summer window.

Considering the duration of their contracts, Olympiacos would likely want to retain Mouzakitis and Kostoulas for another season, particularly if they qualify for the Champions League.
