Fight Night main event.

Stepping in on short notice, the American produced the performance of his career to derail Edwards’ comeback plans and silence the partisan London crowd with a clinical guillotine choke just one minute and 39 seconds into the fourth round.

This loss is Edwards’ second successive defeat as he, at 33 years old, was initially supposed to compete against Jack Della Maddalena. However, with changes in the UFC welterweight lineup, Brady (currently having a record of 18-1) stepped into the bout instead.

Edwards aimed to regain traction following the loss of his championship to Belal Muhammad during the previous summer. However, he ended up struggling against Bradyโ€™s persistent takedown artist skills and superior ground game domination.

Right from the start, the match was an intense spectacle. Early on, Edwards appeared strong, effectively using his jab and thwarting many of Bradyโ€™s preliminary grappling moves. However, as time went on, Bradyโ€™s persistent approach and wrestling background started to dominate the bout.

In round two, the Philadelphia native dominated on the mat, securing Edwards’ back and threatening with multiple submissions. He continued to smother the Brit in the third, controlling position and landing ground strikes that sapped Edwards’ energy.

The match concluded in the fourth round following yet another takedown that left Brady well-positioned. From the dominant spot on top, he secured a guillotine choke and made Edwards submit, clinching a decisive win that rockets him into discussions for the championship.

On another part of the card, Carlos Ulberg from New Zealand secured a unanimous decision against ex-light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz in the co-main event. Meanwhile, Kevin Holland won via points over Gunnar Nelson in a closely fought welterweight match.

The British fans’ favorite Molly McCann faced a first-round submission defeat against Alexia Thainara and subsequently declared her retirement from MMA following the bout.

Yet, the evening was all about Brady, the unlikely hero who ventured into hostile grounds and emerged victorious from what would be the most significant triumph of his career.
