In April, Pakistani TV icon Laila Zuberi disclosed that she and fellow artists Shehnaz Sheikh and Marina Khan received offers to work alongside Indian performers in the Bollywood film ‘Hina.’ During a podcast appearance, Zuberi mentioned, “Back in 1986–87 at the Sharjah Cup, we encountered Raj Kapoor, who informed us that our shows were being shown at the Pune Academy for teaching purposes.”

He then presented me with the film ‘Hina,’ which was subsequently taken up by Zeba Bakhtiar. He sought a Pakistani actress for this role. The offer was also extended to Shehnaz Sheikh and Marina Khan.

I wasn’t able to take part in that film since my husband served as an officer in the Pakistani Army.

Laila Zuberi is an accomplished Pakistani TV actress recognized for her notable roles in shows such as Kankar, Mann Mayal, Dureshehwar, Parizaad, and Tan Man Neel o Neel among others. Besides acting in dramatic series, she has featured in advertisements and sitcoms. Her recent portrayal in the drama serial Tan Man Neel o Neel garnered appreciation from fans. In a statement, Laila mentioned, “In earlier times, our relations with India were cordial enough that we could secure opportunities to perform across borders; however, these days, it’s quite uncommon for performers to find jobs in India.”
