released on Monday, reporter Ryan Bort contended that conservative judicial advocate Leonard Leo is more than just an underground planner; he is the mastermind behind the Republican-dominated court system in the United States.

From shaping the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative majority to enabling a surge of influential figures funded through undisclosed sources, Leo’s impact reaches from the top judicial authority to crucial state-level elections. As per Bort, Leo’s network of secret financial support has not only influenced policies but also transformed the foundation of political power.

The report stated, ‘Leo and his hidden funding group have kept investing millions to promote his right-wing policies.’

Bort details how secretive funding sources such as the Lexington Fund have directed two million dollars into multiple First Principles organizations, established by Leo’s associates and officially registered in Tennessee only last November. These connections actively focused on state-level elections.

For instance, in Wisconsin, more than $600,000 was invested to influence the Supreme Court raceโ€”the priciest such contest in American history. This occurred alongside tech mogul Elon Musk’s personal $20 million effort aimed at securing a conservative victory, yet Democrat Susan Crawford emerged victorious.

In Missouri, Leo supported Will Scharf, a legal representative who previously argued for President Donald Trump’s immunity before the Supreme Court, as his selected attorney general. Although Scharf failed to win the Republican primary against Andrew Bailey, this setback did not hinder their progress; Bailey was later named deputy director at the FBI, while Scharf secured a position within the Trump administration as White House staff secretary.

At the same time, Leo’s funds were also supporting Alabama’s conservative judicial system. First Principles Action contributed more than $1 million to Katherine Robinson’s bid for Attorney Generalโ€”Robinson serves as principal advisor to Steve Marshall, who previously led the Rule of Law Defense Fund, the secretive funding source behind the “Stop the Steal” automated calls following the 2020 election.

Although Trump openly criticized Leo, referring to him as a “sleazebag” who “likely dislikes America,” Leo’s power remained unaffected. The president’s outburst, reportedly driven by irritation over Leo’s judicial appointmentsโ€”allegedly resistant to compromising legal standards for political gainโ€”has not hindered Leo’s organization from increasing its control over both federal and state institutions.
