It’s the preferred banking application used by countless individuals globally.

But it seems that the
HSBC
The banking application was not working this morning.

As reported by Down Detector, issues began approximately at 11:17 BST and are impacting users throughout the UK.

Up to now, over 4,000 problems have been recorded on the website.

Among those who mentioned issues, 62 percent indicated they faced challenges with mobile banking, whereas 30 percent encountered difficulties with internet-based banking.

Eight percent of the rest mentioned the problem related to mobile logins.

The Daily Mail’s Science and Technology Correspondent, Shivali Best, attempted to use the HSBC mobile application and successfully logged in, yet could not view her account details.

“The system cannot access your details at this moment. Kindly attempt again later,” displays an error notification.

Many clients have gathered at X to talk about the disruption.

A user tweeted: ‘My mobile app and online services are not working, and my online payments keep getting rejected. Whatโ€™s happening?’

Another addition: “The service status indicates all is wellโ€”yet you have already received hundreds of messages stating the app is not functioning.”

Is there any possibility of being truthful and open with your clients regarding the reason we’re unable to access our funds?!

One person requested: “HSBC, please assist me. Immediate payment must be processedโ€”when will the app be functional again?”

Currently, HSBC has acknowledged the problem and states that it is examining it as an urgent matter.

“Service alert at 11:45 am: We are aware that certain clients are experiencing difficulties in reaching their banking services,” it stated on Twitter.

We deeply apologize and are looking into this immediately. We’ll provide an update at the earliest opportunity.

In case of an immediate banking problem, HSBC recommends contacting their Customer Support line at 03457 404404.

Nevertheless, if you experienced expenses due to the disruption, you may be eligible for a refund.

For instance, if you couldn’t settle your bills or submit your Self Assessment Tax form, you may have the option to reclaim any penalties imposed.

Should you face any problems, it is advisable to maintain a detailed log of events, along with information about any bank employee you interact with.

You can subsequently submit an official grievance through the HSBC website.

Should you be dissatisfied with the way the bank manages your situation, you have the option to take the matter further to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

This autonomous organization will review the information you provide and determine the outcome of your request.

Should you suffer financial loss because of this disruption, the Ombudsman may step in to compel the bank to reimburse you.

Nevertheless, there is no assurance of recovering any lost funds.

How to act when experiencing a disruption in online banking and mobile applications

A consumer rights champion named Which? has gathered the procedures to take when you’re unable to access your online banking service or application.

This kind of problem typically occurs due to a technical error or a system upgrade.

– If you are having issues with online banking or the mobile application today, check whether you can reach out to your bank to resolve the problem.

– If possible, visit your nearest bank office – particularly if you require immediate access to your funds.

– If you don’t have a local banking office close by or transportation to reach it, contact your bank and request their assistance with next steps.

– If the bankโ€™s telephone services are unavailable or the lines are occupied, attempt to reach out to your bank through social media for guidance โ€” however, never disclose your account information via social media.

โ€“ If you experienced a monetary loss due to inability to access your money for any cause, you might qualify for compensation.
