Reece James
netted an absolutely stunning free-kick against Latvia, yet his celebration, or rather lack of one, makes it seem like nobody noticed.

The stalemate remained unbroken during the World Cup qualifier at Wembley until the Three Lions were granted a set-piece chance 25 yards away from the goal.

Chelsea
James took his opportunity and bent the ball around the wall, placing it perfectly into the upper-right corner, making sure the goalkeeper couldnโ€™t make a save.

This was a goal that even the most exceptional athletes globally would have cherished scoring, yet James appeared unfazed as he was swarmed by his teammates.

Despite scoring his first international goal, the 25-year-old left with his head hung low, not bothering to flash a grin as he departed.

Viewers have turned to social media platforms to propose reasons for his particular response.

One fantastic goal from Reece James,” commented someone on X. “No celebration though. Probably due to accumulated frustration because of his injuries and recent changes in position. Perhaps it was just relief.

Another comment read: “Great moment for Reece James. He had quite a challenging couple of years due to injuries. That celebration seemed like he was letting go of all those emotions.”

One wrote: ‘not sure what the Reece James celebration was about – I don’t remember anyone ever saying he was bad, just that he’s never fit. When he’s fit, he’s amazing.’

Others offered lighter explanations, with someone jestingly suggesting it was “because he used to play for Latvia.”

One commenter remarked that Reece James’s goal was so impressive that he left both himself and the audience surprised, causing him to forget about celebrating. Another X user suggested that he did not celebrate to avoid risking injury.

James got the nod to begin on Monday evening following his appearance as a substitute against Albania on Friday.

After three previous appearances, Morgan Rogers was given his first start for his nation.

Thomas Tuchel carried out four alterations to the team that defeated Albania 2-0 on Friday.

Marc Guehi and Jarrod Bowen were the other players brought into the team, as Tuchel considered alternative choices.

Despite Tuchel stating that Marcus Rashford was not “impactful” against Albania, he kept his position in the lineup. Meanwhile, Myles Lewis-Skelly maintained his spot at left-back following his record-setting performance on Friday.

A win for England against Latvia in their inaugural encounter would significantly boost their chances of qualifying for the World Cup in Group K.
